Not only a surprise, this is a great score for that part of the world. It's not a forged atmosphere, a lot action movies try (unsuccessfully usually). It's a serious movie, showing to Hollywood what is forgotten when the plot mixes guns, undercover agents and ferocious quest to overcome crime.

True stories about the mafia are perhaps the great topic Hollywood has exploited since the seventies. But this movie is more then that. Is not about honor between thieves or families traditions. Is more about lost souls, revenge and a no-turning-back path some choose to be in.

No, no, no. 42 is not fair at all. This is a greater comedy then a lot tried lately. I suppose the low result on Metacritic resides on the expectation left after Ted, a marked beat Seth MacFarlane scored on 2012 (62 on metacritic). For me Seth MacFarlane is the most misunderstood artist after Will Farrel. They are both masters on the art of trying. If you want a more common laugh, ok this is not a movie for you, then again try it, you might like it.

I get those who prefer to say this movie was not perfect or lacked something, but the truth is Hollywood never putted its hands on a such rich and wide story. I mean, of course for this X-Men movie, with time travel it is to expect more. More encounters, more dilemmas about the quantum physics involved, I was expecting all that plus a more spread participation between the characters. The elements are all there but, the thing is, maybe this time, as usually happens the plot was managed by suits, re-managed by the suits bosses and so on. It is not a masterpiece, could be in the hand of a Kubrick, - any other name here would be a blasphemy but... - a Spielberg, a Zemeckis. I'd love to see, for one time some risk being taken. But, I guess Bryan Singer is the only guy not up to risks at this point. It's a shame, the story sure should be better explored.
