This game shows whats wrong with the AAA gaming industry- it checks all the boxes and then adds loads of DLC and Expansion Passes to keep people either playing the game so it wont get traded in or they buy DLC to supplement a continuous cash flow generator for Activation.

Unless you plan on spending real money to advance to the next level- avoid this game completely. The game may be free but after about a dozen levels or so it becomes clear that this is a "pay-to-win" type game. You're better off getting the completely free version from Amazon Underground on phones/tablets instead. The trophies are grindy too.

So I gave this game a 2nd chance, glad i did (i was worried this game was like Dynasty Warriors which im not a fan of). Oh and this game is a prequel to the other two games (which i never played or even heard of until now) Anyway the story is the female lead- Zero, is hellbent on killing her 5 sisters. Shes pissed and will stop at nothing to complete her goal. Thats the simple version. It gets better. Way better. Sounds really messed up (which it is) BUT i think she's entertaining and funny as are her disciples. Great action/rpg/hack n slash game. If youre worried about being lost in this massive rpg world dont be- everything is set up very straighforward and clear. Levels are linear and menus precise and to the point, (this goes for viewing/completing side missions, upgrading and collecting weapons as well). Collectibles (chests) arent a big deal if you miss one. You can go the chapter menu, and go to subchapters (called Verse) and it will clearly show you how many chests you missed on which Chapter and Verse. You can even start at checkpoints within chapters to collect chests if you want to. You have some light RPG elements- buy and upgrade weapons, buy potions for extra health, damage, defense, etc. Its simple but works fine. After you defeat a boss you get to keep their disciples who range from a 22 year old well hung and very horny guy whose body ages quickly to a well rounded...masochist. Thier chatter during and in between missions is very different from the usual bro games like CoD and its something i like. Sounds strange and it is but the combat is good and theres a ton of missions. I just unlocked the last set of missions for Branch D (there are four "endings" in the game- you progress just as you normally would within the game- until you hit branch D. In order to play and complete branch D, you must collect all the weapons. Again, not as hard as it sounds. So far I think I'm about 30+ hours in and still enjoying it. I'll probably buy the slightly overpriced dlc missions just so i can keep playing because i enjoy this game so much and want to contribute to its success, (even though ive read the creator of this game is currently in unemployment with no projects in the near future). :( I was really worried about the frame rate problems because ive read lots of comments referring to it but ultimately for me they didnt happen as often as i thought they would so no problems there. And finally, i usually scour the internet looking for other opinions besides the critics- and I gotta say I think the critics were wrong on this one. I think its because they probably only got the first "ending" (Branch A) and put it down after that. Currently its at 61 here on metacritic which i think it deserves around 80 at least.Give it a shot though, i think its $20 new and the missions dlc are $30 for all six. I somehow got the Japanese voice pack and a couple outfits for free off the psn (no idea how that happened). Since i started though ive just been using the english voiceover which is pretty good i think. I like Zero's voice actress a lot. Not going to spoil anything here, but theres a few key scenes in the game i will revisit with the Japanese VO to see how much they differ or are the same.

FRUSTRATING. The cheap rubberbanding breaks this game. Youll be doing good and then all of a sudden the A.I. flies past you- over and over again. This game is for kids???? If theyre playing to win its going to be one annoying game. Getting all the achievements/trophies isnt easy either. The game is actually good but the cheap A.I. breaks it.

Its cool that R-Type and R-Type II includes both the original versions and an enhanced graphics/music version- all of which can be switched on the fly with one button press. I was hoping that some more extras would be included given its 5 year release after the Xbox 360 version. However, pricing it cheaper at $10 makes up for it. In addtion- the PS3's excellent d-pad makes this game feel right at home.

Bought this on sale for $**** has some great exaggerated jumps and speed. Learning new tricks and earning new vehicles along the career is a nice touch. Its a lot like Pure but more crazy. Is it fun? Kind of. What really kills it for me is that on many big jumps there always seems to be something in the way coming down- a giant rock, a huge tree, statue, etc that youll most likely hit accidentally. And there are A LOT of huge jumps in the game. But the game doesnt give me freedom with those jumps but instead makes me try to control my character mid-air to avoid it. Its annoying at first but after the 100th time its frustrating. As with most racing games, rubber banding is present. Not terribly bad, but its there. Also, when you go up against a "Pro Racer" you will race a ghost of a very cheap, rubber banding ghost driver. I had to go back and do other races to earn enough credits to get a better vehicle, but this just led to the ghost car being that must faster. Annoying. Also the music is terrible. Very generic. Not bad for $5 considering I probably put about 5-6 hours into it and beat the game today.

Its a fun FPS with some really intense moments and lots of action. Overall a really good first person shooter. Dont see why most of the critics hate it so much. Only things i didnt like was that you had to be very close and precise to any "action" (break the security panel to open a door, turn a lever) and it didnt give me the achievement for beating the game. On top of that, you have to beat it three times to get all three difficulty level achievements because they dont stack. I was planning on playing it on easy and hard to get all those achievements but since it didnt unlock for normal mode I wont bother.

After reading all the critics and user reviews I decided to throw down the $3 at Gamestop and give this game a shot. Im glad I did. if you overlook the less than stellar graphics and a few minor annoyances (checkpoints are forever apart in most areas, dumb-as-rocks AI [which at the same time sorta makes it fun], youll find a solid and fun fps. The achievements are fun and easy too. Multiplayer is dead completely though so i didnt get to try that but hey for 3 bucks Im not complaining. Bottom Line- Great game for $10 and under but anything more I'd be pissed lol.

First off I played this on the Xbox 360. It was included as a freebie when you bought the sequel. Anyways I never gave this game a chance in the last 10 years- I always saw the cover and American McGee and thought, "meh", (I didnt know American McGee was a real person let alone a man. Anyways, after the wait Im glad I played it. Its an excellent platformer thats a ton of fun to play. Interesting, dark story and characters, cool weapons and cool bosses round the list. Only issues I had are with the camera now and again but not a big deal. Im now a huge fan of the series and started playing the sequel and looking for merchandise.

If your basing a review on the length of this game then you're reading the wrong review. This game is for Simpsons fans and arcade fans of the genre that Konami was king of back in the day. Its easy to play, its funny, and its an absolute blast to play it with 4 people. I pumped so many quarters in this game back in the day, $10 to play the game while sitting on my couch is a steal. And when you beat the game, just start a new one! It takes 5-7 hours to beat MW2, MW3 or Black Ops but no one complains about that because its CoD. And that game is $60 reskinnned every year!!

SO glad I gave this game a second chance on XBLA. When it came out for PC in 2002 I played for about 30 minutes and thought it was a game about taking pictures and nothing more. 10 years later I finally bought the xbox 360 (XBLA) version, and today I'm going to finally beat the game. I see why they felt the need to bring it back to the mainstream. Pros: -By far some of the best platforming around. -60 frames per second. -Clean, colorful graphics. -Fun mini-games (side quests). The racing games are surprisingly a lot of fun!! -Great music. -Great voice acting. -Characters are likeable. -Lots of things to collect and take pictures of to earn more credits (money). -Good campaign length (myself Im at 11hrs and about to do the last mission). Cons: -Combat is simplistic. -Even though the right analog stick controls the camera, if Jade is backed up against a wall and you try to rotate the camera it will refuse to go (the camera "hits" the wall and stops if you know what i mean). -Main map is great and very helpful- however it would have been 100x better if they added a HUD with a mini-map instead with an added "GPS" feature to pinpoint exactly where I want to go.

If you like Duke Nukem 3D, youll like this game. If you despise the character or were too young to play Duke Nukem 3D, or simply dont remember it at all- ignore this and go play your CoD. This game is made for the fans of DN only. I believe many people are bashing it simply because it took so long to come out and its an easy target after all the hype, which is unprofessional. Heres what I liked: 1.Lengthy single player game. 2.Good pacing thoughout. 3.Duke says some funny stuff throughout the game. 4.Simply fun to play. Heres what I didnt like: 1. After installation on the xbox 360 HDD, load times between deaths/levels are still about 25 seconds. 2. Graphics are fine, but framerate can get muddy if explosions going onscreen. 3. Can only hold two weapons at a time. Anyways I thought it was a fun game. And its around $10-$20 now so now is the time to get it.

It's Mortal Kombat in its purest, simplest and most fun form. MKII alone (for me) is worth the 10 bucks, however having all three games is an incredible value anyway. Im not going to mention the critic review whose website's name pretty much describes his review. I really dont get why people need extra bonus content for a game to be worth something. Online play is fine for me unlike the other guy, so as long as youre not downloading porno while on Live youll be fine.

What I like best about this game is that the story is more focused and "close to home", which I felt a personal connection to the story. I dont touch multiplayer because i **** at it and dont care about it. The single player campaign took me around 6-7 hrs and I played through it three times to nab some extra achievements which are pretty fun to get. I hate to make comparisons, but I was growing tired of the CoD series and all the super epic moments at every corner. Now when it happens in those games i just sigh and say meh whatever. Oversaturated epic scenes made me bored pretty much. Medal of Honor is a great deal especially since its $19.99 new now, dont pass it up.

An arcade racer at heart, Split/Second delievers heart pounding, fast and fun gameplay. The variety of racing modes keeps the gameplay fresh and the trigger events are a sight to see. The downsides? It just needs a few more tracks, and toward the later levels the A.I. can get nasty with the rubberbanding. Otherwise one of the best modern racers out there up with Burnout Paradise.

If youre a fan of shoot-em-ups (or shmups)-hardcore or casual- you should definitely consider giving DeathSmiles a try. Multiple difficulties and variations of the core game, score multipliers, online play, gorgeous graphics, a great soundtrack, and different characters to choose from make this game a solid purchase. While I miss the "space shooters" of yesteryear like R-Type, U.N. Squadron, and Gradius, DeathSmiles proves that even with a strange storyline with young girls shooting stuff that the genre is still alive and kicking-still with fresh ideas to boot.

Enslaved: Odyssey to the West
8
User Scorelimelight
Oct 24, 2010
If youre a fan of Heavenly Sword on PS3, (also from Ninja Theory) youll probably enjoy Enslaved. Voice acting is top notch, controls are good but a lil mushy sometimes, and the camera can get in the way of the action quite often, but overall Enslaved is a trip worth taking. Your "sidekick" whose name is Trip never gets in the way and is voiced perfectly. Your character (Monkey) and Trip make for a winning combination throughout their journey. Pros: -As usual from Ninja Theory, the voice acting and facial character animations during cutscenes are all top notch. -Beautiful scenery all around- instead of going for a dreary post-apocalyptic setting, youre instead greeted with a world where the trees, grass, and flowers seem to take over the setting, which is truly dazzling on hdtvs. -Excellent pacing throughout the story, with just the right amount of comic relief in all the right places, but never too much. Cons: -The camera gets in the way of Monkey during battle scenes constantly. Often it will center itself in the wrong spots, behind foliage, etc. -Combat is not quite smooth and fast enough for my tastes. -More types of baddies wouldve been much appreciated. If the game had a few extra months to really nail the cons, this could possibly be a contender for game of the year. Otherwise, its a great game to play if you enjoy an engrossing story in your videogames with strong character development.
