It's a three-way wartime love story. The acting is superb. The script minimal but iconic. The plot lacks plausibility but it moves along. The director uses black-and-white to great effect. Enjoyable but dated.
In my Top 100 worst movies bucket list. If you like endless slapstick, you'll love it. It's got upside-down ****, a Ventolin-inhaler, a deformed idiot, a girl with broken glasses on accidentally kissing a boy with braces. Oh what jolly fun.
