AN is an okay game, platforming sections are very fun, music and voice acting are quite good, but that s pretty much it, IMO. The game is lacking in most aspect of what makes a great metroidvania game. Menus are horrible with little to no information, desorganized and annoying to use; animations are just kinda okay, and what makes things worst, color selection is awful as even when the game has very distint biomes, most of the time u cant tell the difference of whats an enemy, a proyectile or a hazard because is freaking hard to distinguish them from the environment itself, if you add all that to the fact that also controls doesnt feel quite right, sometimes u get lock on attack animations or sometimes the dash/dodge isnt as reponsive dude to this same issue, u getting stuck on animations. An okay MV game, but u wont be missing anything if u dont play it. Not mediocre by any means, just above average.
One of the most underrated yet best metroidvania games of all times. The game is far from perfect but it absolutely delivers what u expect from the genre. Top combat (might easily be the best of the genre), outstading bosses, great platforming sections and level desing, and a huge map with tons of collectibles that pairs well with its great mobility options. With less bugs, better music, a little more polish and a more cohesive story, this could have easily be a 10/10 metroidvania game, no joke.
Played on Steam Deck. I wanted to play TUNIC for so long, but it was years before I finally decided to buy it, guess all the delays made me lost interest. The thing is,now I have finally played it and was able to finish it (not 100%,got first ending) and I have to say even when the game is good, I was kind of dissapointed. The game is beautiful, the sense of discovery and exploration is very fun at least until the second half of the game, but that s pretty much it, combat and movement are kinda just okay, a little clunky for my liking, bosses arent that great neither tbh, and the game s also quite short of content. Hate to say this after years of waiting for the game, but unfortunately, this one is overrated IMO. 7.5 at best. Not Mediocre by all means, just an okay good game.
