Wuthering Waves

I have played for 3 years Genshin and I got totally burnt out by Hoyoverse not giving a dawn about its players. You get little reward for loyalty, and the players' feedback were simply ignored, noticeably there is still no end-game after 4 years. Kuro Game has already giving two 5 stars standard banner selectors, and has integrated players' feedback. Wuthering Waves copies Genshin on gacha system and pity, world exploration and itemization, but the combats are more complex and diversified. Overall Wuthering Waves is superior to Genshin.

Code has been copied/pasted from Fallout 3, without the depth, and putting a Terminator look on it. Weapons and upgrades are forgettable. Skills progression is basic. Story is ok but not memorable. Stealth and combat are shallow. Overall, the game is worth $15 max.

Diablo 4 is a magnificent game, with little to no bugs, and detailed sceneries. But there is no-end game content, and the main story is an excuse to reach higher World Tiers. For $40, it would be an amazing pick. For $70, it is a massive rip-off.

Honkai: Star Rail

If you love the Open-world of Genshin Impact, the Combats, the Beauty of the sceneries, and if you hate its predatory Gacha system and Hoyoverse’s stinginess, then Honkai Star Rail is all you hate, and nothing of what you love. Technically, the game is a success. But it has been made for mobiles, and feels weird on PC. The game takes 2 weeks to finish the main story and all side quests. I feel sorry for whales who already spent $500. Still it takes months of grinding, I am not sure how that can work. The game is just plain linear, one long corridor. Dialogs cannot be skipped. Good luck surviving the boredom of the first two hours. Characters, scenery, pretty much everything looks grey and blue. It is quite depressive, and no near the beauty of Genshin. Combats are auto-play, meaning the game has an integrated bot feature. You click and forget, and come few minutes later on the fight is over. A game that you don't play, definitely for mobile and not PC. The game is Pay2Win, period. Paid Event banner characters are crushing any others. You can already feel the game won’t be enjoyable as a free player, all the good characters will be behind a steep paywall. The question I asked myself is: “is it worth investing in a game you are going to play 2 week every patch?” Unless you are a collector or a whale, and you feel rich by collecting 5 stars characters, it is a hard pass on HSR. As a 2nd opinion, I suggest you watch TenTen videos on Youtube. I’ll be trying out Blue Protocol, Wuthering Waves, and Diablo 4.

Genshin is beautiful. While playing the main story line and exploring the opened world, you enjoy the game. You build you account and starting paying to get the 5 stars characters. Then the honey moon stops, combats are pointless, and unless doing speed running, any team would finish the game. Building you characters, improving their gears, and putting team together is eventually lost and useless due to the lack of any challenge. I would encourage enjoying and finishing the exploration before putting any money in the game. And don't worry, the game has been designed for whale players, they don't really care about you anyway.

If you are used to MMO with proper rotations in depth mechanisms, you just pass on Lost Ark. The combats are especially messy, and it is targeted to Asian audience, who loves grinding. Anything to do in Lost Ark takes forever, and you spend more time waiting than playing (shipping from island to island). There is no real story, and I skipped every single dialogue in this game.

Bethesda released Fallout 76 full of bugs as money grabs, and damage so much their reputation that they stopped investing in Fallout franchise. Nonetheless Fallout 76 is worth playing as solo player. It reminds of Fallout 4 but with a significant bigger map. Many bugs and patches, left the game terribly unbalanced to play with others. I'll skip the MMO part.

Overwatch 2 is full of cheater and veterans players. Any new players get killed over and over. When you start the game, you may think the other players are better than you. After 50 hours of gameplay, you are still not catching up. Why that Roadhog never misses with his hook and one shot you. How that Genji uses his ult and never misses. etc. etc. Just try a Deathmatch, 90% of the players are widows (i.e. snipers) Blizzard doesn't care, cheaters are better for business than empty servers.

Blizzard builds their games based on addiction. Games are rated based on visual and technical aspects, how interesting is the story, the combats, etc. My one month of WoW proved to me, the game was just stealing my time. Everything is developed to keep you connected, any progress takes hours. If you become addicted you miss on your life. The son of family friends almost quit university because of that game. It is really how digital addictions are, without any regulation to moderate them, and companies preying on people who can't control themselves.

Blizzard does beautiful games, but also add competitively to the extreme, to the point of toxicity. Overwatch is no exception, pleasant the first few hours, and toxic not long after. If you value who you are, I will play a more respectful game to individuals.

Rift used to be great for PvE, passable for PvP up to 2.0. The 3rd expansion was a massacre of the game: * world map with no details) * boring boss fights * daily quest: "click 20 times" (no joke) Most of old good players lefts, guilds are scarce.

I am not surprised by the average users' reviews. The game lack of depth compare to Fallout 3. Bethesda has been trying to create a cash machine out of the game. Half of the add-ons are just a rip-off (should have been included in the base game). The game is very linear in the story, and very unbalanced. Once you get a power armor and good gun, you will finish the game very quickly. Shame, Fallout series have such a great potential.

STALKER has been probably my best experience for a shooter / survival game. You need to install the add-on COMPLETE to really enjoy the game (re-work of all the textures) as the game looks old.

AA sound so promising: total liberty due to the Sandbox model, CryEngine for great graphic experience, great PvP, etc. Then you start playing the game… You are Patron but there is not enough land, there are always 4 players rushing on any mining nodes, etc. If you finally get a farm, you can plant only 4 trees on it. Public farms are saturated. The game is full of AFKers, gold resellers, and bots/hackers. Old servers are fully crowed and controlled by few big guilds. New servers have mostly f2p and have only few guilds. As no guild means no end-game, these new servers are already called ghost servers. Farming is “I plant, I water, I pick-up 30 min later”. Do you want to spend your time like that? To maximize a skill, you need 50,000 LP. f2p players gain 5 LP every 5 minutes connected. You need to stay connected 70 days (24/7) to maximize 2 skills. For example, one mining node adds 10 LP, so you need to farm 5,000… Still want to play? Please be my guest.
