Louis Theroux: Inside the Manosphere8
Mar 24, 2026
A very interesting documentary. It doesn’t necessarily reveal anything new for viewers already familiar with how many influencers operate within the manosphere—using kernels of truth to deliver messages that resonate with young men, only to ultimately twist those ideas for profit. It often feels like bad advice wrapped in appealing packaging. I personally really enjoyed Louis Theroux’s approach here—simply placing the camera in front of these figures and letting them speak for themselves. In many cases, they end up exposing their own contradictions without much intervention. The film clearly highlights these inconsistencies: while the core message isn’t always inherently bad, the delivery often feels like a “throw **** at the wall and see what sticks” approach. If some of it genuinely helps people, that’s great—but watching these self-proclaimed “thought leaders” and “tough influencers” navigate their daily lives while struggling to clearly articulate their own ideas paints a very different picture.Interestingly, a lot of the backlash to the documentary seems to prove its point. Many viewers immediately claim it’s a setup or a trap, insisting the influencers aren’t in the wrong—but that reaction, in a way, only reinforces the film’s message. I do got to say Justin, in particular, comes across as more grounded and down-to-earth, still not great but he is able to push down his own insecurities and try to pass a message that could be of value to some of you can see past the creepy costing.
While the rest end up presenting themselves less as genuine mentors and more as participants in what feels like a series of get-rich-quick schemes. Is the documentary interesting? Yes
Is it new information for 20 something year olds with a brain? No All in all a good a watch not phenomenal but defiantly a good documentary.
