Such a big fat disappointment. The combat feels great. But that alone can't save this game. It's boring. Repetitive and boring. I give it a 5 because I did have a little bit of fun with it, for a short while, and the soundtrack is great. Other than that, it's a drag. There was so much potential here. Strange. But I'm sure it was a financial success for Bungie, because so many fools bought it, myself included.
Let's be honest. Watch Dogs couldn't possibly live up to the lofty expectations place on it. It is the first next-gen open world urban sandbox. And it follows the release of GTA V, which is the benchmark for all open world games. But I think the game is great. By my standards it is definitely a next-gen game because my wrists get sore before my eyes do. The framerate is good, there is little aliasing, and minimal screen tear. The game grows on you, once you get used to the greasy feel of the driving and the questionable main character. The missions are actually enjoyable, as are the side missions, which is more than I can say for a lot of other open world games. Ubisoft did a great job with their vision of Chicago, and if you give Watch Dogs a chance and can avoid spending the whole time comparing this game to that game, there's a lot of fun to be had there.
I enjoyed AC1 because of the great middle-eastern setting and fresh ideas. I tried to enjoy AC2, but found Ezio to be an unlikeable turd. Along came AC3 and away went another $60 I will never get back. Garbage, a real crap-fest. So, like a **** for punishment I picked up AC4 for my xbox one. And I was pleasantly surprised. AC4 is a fantastic game. For me it has been the best in the series, by far, and an improvement in nearly every way. Don't hesitate to pick this one up.
Don't get me wrong. Enemy Unknown is a great game, one of my all-time favorites. At first, I was somewhat skeptical about this expansion. But Enemy Within's expanded content is an improvement in every way, and is well worth the price, even if you own the original. Yes, it is the same campaign, but the combat dynamic has changed with the introduction of Meld, and all of the benefits it provides. The additional battlefields are a welcome change and the inclusion of the last game's DLC really make customizing your troops a lot of fun. Obviously, if you didn't care for Enemy Unknown, this game, probably isn't going to change that. But if you liked it as much as I did, then you'll love Enemy Within.
Another year, another Call of Duty. That's not necessarily a bad thing. There is a large community of fanboys on the CoD haters' bandwagon who would suggest MW3 is garbage. Don't be fooled. The game delivers the same explosive, fast-paced online multiplayer it always has. The single-player isn't bad either. Obviously, if you've played CoD's online offerings to death for years, there isn't much new here. But the formula remains unchanged for a reason, it works.
