So-so, graphics are OK, but the gameplay is not so enjoyable as it could be, in my opinion. Kirby Epic Yarn, Donkey Kong Country Returns and Super Mario Galaxy (1 + 2) are really great with their gameplay and mechanics. If forget about the aforementioned games it is a good game, but in comparison with them, it is not so great and enjoyable. Still is just matter of taste, as I said, I better play Kirby Epic Yarn, Donkey Kong Country Returns and Super Mario Galaxy (1 + 2) one more time than this game.
I totally agree with the Vasot, at the first glance game looks OK, but there are only 3 types of missions ( "hero", "kill swarm(zombies)" and "build colony"). Your colony almost always located in the open area, which means that you can be attacked from 4 sides. "Build a colony" is the most disappointing mission type, where you should attract 600 colonists, for example (3rd mission), so you should build about 60-80 houses and protect them from zombies, which is more boring and irritating, than challenging task. Also, I was got upset, that you open most of the units and buildings using research tree where you apply point which you got from completing the missions, accept from this research tree you have very limited variety units and building. Also, there is no classic save/load opportunity, you quit and the game remembers this moment and continues from it. You cannot restart the mission, which is a washout. I made a mistake in 1 mission (build a colony) and concentrate on houses for colonists and not army and zombies attacked from 3 sides and units are slow and sometimes stuck in buildings, so I almost loose, so I wish there were restart and quickly save and load options to change your strategy when you find mistakes in your planning. Also sometimes buildings explode for no reason, maybe it interesting mechanic for hard or nightmare difficulty, but at normal difficulty (which I played) it also irritates a bit. All in all, the game has an interesting theme and some gameplay mechanics, but after playing 3-4 hours I cannot call it enjoyable. I waited that it would be like Frostpunk, interesting and challenging, but about zombies, but this game has more boring and irritating moments, than challenging. Maybe I missed something, but I cannot recommend this game at the current state.
I totally agree with skdursh and stherkelsen. The game has good graphics, music and some interesting gameplay mechanics, although gameplay looks and feels well at first, after 2-3 hours you understand there is nothing new and interesting left that game can give you. The main issue with this game is the lack of content and interesting mechanics to make replayability worthwhile, i.e. if you play 1 island (about 5-6 missions, which will take about 1-2 hours) you already see the most part of the game. Other islands have different enemies and you can upgrade your mechs after some time, but core mechanics stay the same and aforementioned facts don't add freshness to the game. Don't get me wrong it is still a good turn-based strategy game, but for me, it is not deep enough with a low variety of scenarios to call it a really great and deep game. Maybe I missed something, but for me, FTL was much deeper and more interesting. P.S: It's a pity that there is no PvP mode (even local) to play with friends (mechs vs insects OR mech vs mechs).
I agree with captainkane and Junambo, at first games looks great, especially in comparison with last Sim City from EA. This joy lasts about 6-10 hours, and then you realize, that game lacks variety and challenges(at least interesting), like no pandemics, fires or organized crime. And also I agree that when you get large city (30 000 - 40 000 ), you understand that the most of your time you spent by planning and building roads and handle the traffic. Sure it is a good game, but it lacks the depth like SimCity 4 and variety. Also, I didn't like the gameplay idea that you could not upgrade any buildings(except roads and pipes), you should demolish the old building(fire department or police) and build the new one when a city grows.
One of my favorites platformers of all time is Kirby Epic Yarn, so I waited for a similar experience from this yarn platformer but didn't fall in love with this one. The graphics and music are great, gameplay is average, but puzzles and level designs spoil the fun because they not very player-friendly. The 1st level is fine and easy, but then difficulty increases very much (2nd,3rd level is 3times harder than 1st one in my opinion), in the 1st level I didn't die at all, but at the 2nd I died about 20 times. I think the problem is in the puzzles, you should be very very precise to solve them, so most of the time you understand how to solve them, but the lack of perfect timing and position or pressing the wrong button to spoil the solution. This irritates the most, one thing when you don't know how to solve the puzzle, but another when you know how, but it is difficult to jump or move things in a way level designers want you to do it. And I played with the gamepad, I fear to think how I would play it with the keyboard. So I could not get pleasure by playing this game, while music and graphics are great, other parts don't work so well. Also game quite repetitive, I played 4 levels and didn't see any new mechanics or features that were not introduced at the 1st level.
Not bad game. Like the concept, but the game a bit repetitive. There are 12 levels and after the 3rd/4th one, they feel quite the same. The game is not very difficult, so you can beat all 12 levels in 5-7 hours or so. The only difficulty of this game when have to kill about 60 people, but using environment tricks you can kill 25-30 at most and then you should track the rest 30-35 people wait when they separate from the group and kill 1 by 1. If not this waiting and tracking 1 by 1 you could easily beat this game in 2-3 hours. It is not a bad game, but fo party game sometimes it is quite boring.I like the soundtrack, graphics, idea, and gameplay from this game. But for its repetitiveness and boring moments, it deserves 7 at most, in my opinion.
Very good and innovative gameplay, but it is not only SUPERHOT, but also SUPERSHORT. You can beat this game in 1.5-2.0 hours, although it is a new and very nice experience. It still feels not like the actual game, but a very good tech demo, because of lack of content.
I am a great fan of his Gunpoint game, I played it through about 4 times and many custom levels in steam and don't regret any hour that I spent in Gunpoint, because it was a really great game, in my opinion. In the steam promo video, this game is called "Gunpoint in space", it is sometimes true, but not always. You could beat the whole Gunpoint game easily in 3-4 hours, like in 1 seat, and it was a quite enjoyable experience. I often failed the level, but it does not irritate me at all. And here it seems you need at least 25-30 hours to beat this game, and they not very enjoyable, in my opinion. In "Heat Signature" situation is different, it has very nice graphics and not bad gameplay, it also has different types of mission, sometimes you should be quite like at Gunpoint, but sometimes you should not, so you can play it like light version "Hotline Miami" in space. Everything seems to be OK, but not for a long time, I've already played for about 10 hours (about 8 seats, each one slightly more than 1 hour ) during past month. At first, it was fun, almost like Gunpoint, but after 6-8 hours it became quite boring and repetitive. There are only 3 types of missions: kill, steal and capture. I played about 30 missions and all ships look quite the same, like 3-4 templates. It is not an easy game, you can be killed or lost your character quite easily, especially on Hard and Atrocious missions and you will lose all your hard-earned stuff. So the absence of saves is quite frustrating for me. During first 3-4 hours I was quite calm about my failures and death in this game, but later it becomes to irritate me, so I can't enjoy this game as much as I want. Also, I don't like Hard missions with a time limit: for example, you have just 90-120 seconds to get to the ship(very huge of course) and your target as it should be in the farthest corner of the ship. So you need to be PERFECT in timing and have the very good equipment to success at these missions. I admit, that I am not hardcore kind of gamer, I don't mind challenges in the game as soon as they don't prevent you to get fun from the game. I really wanted to enjoy this game, sure it has a lot of content (not very unique to be honest), but for me, it is quite repetitive, boring, with no savegames and sometimes very hard. I enjoyed mostly first 6-7 hours, but then its repetitiveness and difficulty (because if you will concentrate on Easy and Medium missions you will spend 2-3 times more time in the game because you need money to go further and only Hard and Atrocious missions paid well) kill all the fun and enjoyability in this game. If you, not a very Hardcore gamer or like its repetitive gameplay (30-60 minutes it is quite enough to get the full impression of this game), I cannot recommend this game. And I quit this game, because it is not fun for me anymore.
Tastes differ, but for me, it is one of the best platformers(and Wii games) which I played in my life. Everything is perfect here, in my opinion, level designs, music, graphics and everything else.
