The voice acting is exceedingly lazy and incompetent. The dialogue is so hamfisted, corny, cliche and unnatural. And the soundtrack as well, is just woefully sad. How could netflix allow this to be released? Jesus Christ would weep.

I read the reviews and one thing they mention is that this show is dark. It surprised me just how dark it got. It's not just the constant manipulation, blackmail and cutthroat office politics. These are bottom of the barrel soulless jackasses and it's really bleak. I've watched two episodes so far and I am really liking it. Hopefully it doesn't mean I am getting very bitter about life. Most of Shiri Appleby's shows are twee and on the wholesome side. This is really different from her other shows that I've watched. I think she was born for this role, ironically. Just the right mix of flaky, nervy, and desperate mess. Freddie Stroma's character doesn't really do much, which is a shame. There's a lot of forward momentum and the plotlines are tight. There aren't really a lot of plotlines and hopefully it stays that way.

The first two episodes were very promising, with the uncommon time element they introduced. But it's the same directionless drivel it was a season ago. Syfy attracts only low caliber writers.

Backstrom: Season 1

Big sigh. I was really hoping to like this, but I think I'll pass. The title says Backstrom but I think this will succeed based on the strength of the ensemble. Look at Brooklyn Nine-nine, the jokes are honestly not that funny, but because they are working with quirky established characters that gel together, it is very entertaining. The writing is very weak in the pilot. Everything feels forced. Niedermayer I think was supposed to be British or something similar to what Brendan Penny plays on Motive. Instead we get Kristoffer Polaha who does not pull off the character. He is leading man material, albeit on a low budget series, like North Shore. He is too handsome to play hippy hipster. Dennis Haysbert, who plays the character who is a pastor on the weekends, does not really pull that off either. They need someone who talks slower like Frankie Faison, who works on Banshee at the moment. Thomas Dekker is playing a 90's goth gay character, or maybe catwoman from Gotham. I love Thomas Dekker, but he just can't get a good show after Sarah Connor Chronicles ended. I hope this gets canceled soon, so he can get a better role.

I'm on the second episode and I don't know if the actors are adlib-ing but they are funny. Especially the Vizier. After watching Whodunit last year, I guess this kind of show is easier to get into.

I don't see the point of this show. It does not have redeeming qualities; it does not have a unique hook (who is gossip girl, who is A); it does not have an endearing lead; it does not have logic. Television apparently does not have enough shows about young white privileged females trying to get away with bad behavior. Why didn't the police detain her for tresspassing? Why wouldn't the police arrest the drug-addled kids for their "prank?" Why are the kids around her ok with the crazy woman who abducted her? Would a normal teeenager who just recently found out she was kidnapped as a child keep shrugging it off every time sensible people tell her about her biological mother's good qualities? That dad turned into a caricature really quickly on the end of the second episode, what is this Revenge?

I quite like this show; if we're being honest, however the quality of the writing in on par with Two and A Half Men and Anger Management: quite bland, cliche, unoriginal, not quite funny. However, what redeems this show is the sheer likeability of the lead and the chemistry of the cast. It also helps that I've always like David Fynn in comedies. I give it a passing grade.

Now, I remember how amazing this is. It's completely mesmerizing. And I also remember that time spent with this series is too short no matter how many episodes. After an hour is over, it leaves you with an ache, the kind you get after having the best conversation with a friend on Skype and suddenly losing internet connection, having to wait an entire week to talk again.

This is just poorly written to begin with. Terrible dialog, poorly developed new language, inconsistent world building. It seems SyFy is doubling down on the Defiance formula, which is a shame. Two terrible tentpole series. It is far too camp but takes itself too seriously, a combination that doesn't work. From Dusk Till Dawn was camp and cheeky, and ran with it. This mess however, is just the wrong combination of ridiculous and mediocre, suffering from an identity crisis. If this were Kings (where Christopher Egan was also the lead, and which also had biblical inspiration) the soap opera elements would work, but they were just not able to pull it off here. The acting: I'm not really sure whether it's bad acting or just lazy directing. They seem lost and painted in broad strokes (so to speak) and seem like bit parts in a high school production aka Eragon (zing! Christopher Egan also appears in that one). There seems to be a "let's wing it" attitude towards the characters in this show. The actor playing Michael must have realized that this is a ridiculous show, and is just dying inside every time he has a scene. Otherwise, he would follow Tom Mison's (Sleepy Hollow) and Stephen Amell's (Arrow) lead and fully embrace the character, warts and all. Lens flare. What is with the ending; torches burning on the walls of a stone temple. What is this the 1980's, when people still found Indiana Jones cool? Utterly disappointed.
