I was pleasantly surprised by this series. It’s less a super hero story and more a love letter to acting, film, and the importance of friendship. I appreciate Marvel’s willingness to experiment a bit and create a show with more relatable themes.
This show was wrenching to watch but beautifully written and acted. It touched on a number of themes in a compelling way (British Tabloid Culture, addiction, loss) and brought to bear in just a few episodes of television.
This show is entirely unrealistic but not in a good way. It relies on a cliched and offensive view of "geeks" & intelligent people that is entirely inaccurate. Being smart doesn't make you socially inept or prone to deliver corny & obvious science jokes. That said, a lot of people think this is how smart people behave. I guess you can't blame Chuck Lorre for pandering to that demographic.
