Resident Evil Village on Nintendo Switch 2 is, unfortunately, a major disappointment compared to Requiem. While the core game itself remains strong in terms of atmosphere, setting, and overall design, the port makes it extremely difficult to actually enjoy any of that. The visual quality is simply awful, with aggressive ghosting that is constantly visible during movement, combat, and even basic exploration. It’s not a minor flaw you occasionally notice — it’s always there, smearing the image and breaking immersion to the point where longer sessions become frustrating. The overall picture looks muddy, fine details get lost in motion, and the presentation lacks the sharpness and stability that made Requiem so impressive on the same hardware. Considering how well optimized Requiem turned out, this version feels like a clear step backward. What makes it worse is that this is an older port, and with the level of technical execution seen in Requiem, such issues are simply unacceptable. There’s no reason previous releases shouldn’t receive the same level of care and optimization. In its current state, Village on Switch 2 feels poorly handled and significantly inferior to Requiem from a technical standpoint, which is especially disappointing given how strong the game itself actually is.

Resident Evil 7: Biohazard on Nintendo Switch 2 is another example of a port that fails to meet the standard set by Requiem. The game itself remains one of the strongest entries in the series, with incredible атмосфера, tight level design, and constant tension, but the technical state of this version seriously holds it back. The most noticeable issue is heavy ghosting that appears during movement and darker scenes, creating a smeared image that constantly distracts from the horror atmosphere. It makes exploration feel visually messy instead of immersive. On top of that, the framerate struggles more than it should, with noticeable dips that hurt responsiveness, especially during combat encounters where precision matters. Reflections also look significantly downgraded and unstable, often appearing noisy or low resolution, which further reduces overall visual fidelity. Compared to how polished and stable Requiem feels on the same hardware, this port comes across as under-optimized and outdated. Given that this is an older title, these technical shortcomings are hard to justify, especially when a newer release proves the console can handle much better optimization. As it stands, Resident Evil 7 on Switch 2 feels technically compromised and clearly inferior to Requiem in terms of visual stability and performance.

Resident Evil Requiem on Nintendo Switch 2 is one of those rare cases where a port doesn’t just feel acceptable — it feels genuinely excellent. From my experience, the game looks fantastic both in handheld and docked modes. The image is sharp, the lighting and detail are impressive, and performance stays consistently smooth. Considering the fairly strict TDP limitations of the Switch 2, which can’t be adjusted, the technical result is even more impressive. It really feels like the developers pushed the hardware as far as it could go and optimized it properly. Beyond the technical side, the game itself is outstanding. The story is gripping and atmospheric, the exploration feels rewarding, and the overall pacing keeps you engaged from start to finish. It’s a great survival horror experience that delivers strong эмоtions and makes full use of the console’s capabilities. Compared to Capcom’s other Resident Evil ports on the system, particularly Resident Evil 7: Biohazard and Resident Evil Village, Requiem stands out clearly. Those versions suffer from weaker optimization and visually don’t feel as polished or as enjoyable to play. Requiem sets a higher standard, and hopefully Capcom will bring the same level of care and optimization to the 7 and 8 ports in the future.
