Just wanna put a big HAHAHAHA to Volition for playing the modern card and trying to be too hip for their own good.
They dug themselves into bankruptcy and their smug attitude towards the real fans when marketing this game killed them for good. Terrible game,terrible plot, terrible characters that are barely human at all,just pure trash all over,it's kinda amazing. You will not be missed Volition. Thank you. **** you. Bye.
Fun,addictive,challenging.Hands down the best poker based game ever,add the rougelike elements like upgrades and bosses and you've got a winner like this.

The big issue is the lack of single player content,NO STORY??
Having every event tied to online is very questionable,most people hate online in games and rightly so.
Need more than grand prix over and over for single player,every game needs to learn this.
Music is pretty bad too in my opinion,very cheesy and annoying,thankfully you can chose your own for races (mine is mostly the persona and yakuza ones for every race) but the final lap music is always a bad choir version that sounds like its from the mario vs sonic at the Olympics games and it's real cringe sounding.
But a still great racing game for co op and has a decent roster,track designs are great too

As a huge fan of this franchise this was the ONLY one that let me down this much.
Huge downgrade from Yakuza 7/LAD in gameplay,story,difficulty and characters.
Ichiban is just made to look like an idiot at the last scene of the game,ruining his obvious potential relationship with Saeko.
Bryce and the boring cult is the worst main antagonist in the series and the party characters (one which includes a V tuber just to make it worse) are really bad.
And the lack of difficulty spike made the battles pointless as it was never a problem to squash enemies and bosses.
Really bad levelling pacing. How this is a sequel to the goated 7 is something I'll never understand I'm not even gonna go into the stupid Kiryu got cancer angle either, what a waste of everyone's time. If this was the last Ichiban game then I wouldn't be suprised,was just boring and easy.
Good gameplay can not excuse the awful monetization and unfixed issues from previous years. The devs are straight up telling us they don't care and show it in their quest for greed. Typical 2k game nothing to see here.
Fire the two Brian dudes who try gaslighting the players every year with their social media accounts and interviews and who work on this game every year with little improvement,they just ain't good at their jobs.
