The definitive version of this masterpiece, the point'n'click system is an improvement over the old tank controls, though the graphics remaster isn't much of anything at all and honestly it even looks better with the old graphics. As for the game itself, what stands out is the story, dialogue and characters, and how so many different elements are mixed to create a deep lore that is very interesting to discover. It has some nice and creative environments, and the weakest part is probably some puzzles here and there, but overall a fantastic adventure game.
Unbelievable how much fun this game can be, the main missions are some of the best I've ever played with lots of variety, with a great story of course, and then all the side content gives you plenty more to see. Stunning graphics that pull you into the world and leave you wanting more (gonna play freedom cry next!)
Wonderful experience from beginning to end: surprisingly varied and beautiful environments, smooth gameplay (stealth, parkour, combat) and a nice, fitting story to boot. It's very easy to get lost in the game world since it's so immersive.
An excellent first impression for the series, has some really funny dialogue all the way through, and really clever but not overly complicated puzzles. Suffers from not having enough locales to visit in my opinion, but not from being too short, I think the length is fine for one episode.
A truly wonderful finale for the saga with thrilling story and an amazing atmosphere. Every setting for the game is gorgeous and is designed perfectly to fit in with the theme and story, specially the main setting (the one you start the chapter in) is beautiful. Awesome final fight, and a brilliant ending.
Freemium model that requires you to pay or wait a long time if you want to keep playing. The multiplayer is enticing but I definitely don't recommend this game. It's a shame because the original game is fun, but this just ruined the franchise for me.
"Lair of the Leviathan" starts up slow but then turns out to be an absolute blast to play, frenetic but never too fast, amazing humor and characters (both new and returning), great and original puzzles. This chapter is what truly elevated the Tales series to the standard of the original games.
The first chapter was already pretty good but this is a definite step up. The change of setting serves the game really well, with a well created atmosphere through a mix of gorgeous graphics, wonderful music and the new characters' design. The puzzles are incredibly tight and funny this time around, they will always feel satisfying to solve when you eventually do solve them. And of course, the story is still really interesting to follow.
The atmosphere that this chapter sets is just amazing. Sound, graphics and music all come together to form a really beautiful and haunting game. Though the puzzles are on the weaker side this time, the twists and turns that the story takes are all gripping and make you want to finish the chapter in one sitting. The returning character is definitely a highlight of this chapter, but everyone else also has a compelling arc — everyone gets their own important moments, which is impressive given how limited the game's time is.
A solid start to the series. Although graphics can be a bit generic at times, with repetitive character models, the setting looks really nice nonetheless. The new characters established in this chapter all have funny lines and the dialogue is great overall. The story is set up pretty well, and it only gets better from here!
An absolute classic of the casual games industry, with gorgeous and lush graphics, fitting soundtrack and sound effects, and really addictive gameplay.
Considering the budget and how it was funded through Kickstarter, this is a pretty good game from Argentinian indie company Blyts, but it's a shame it didn't get more funding, because it would've been longer if it did. Regardless, I think the concept was flawed from the start: the chapters just feel disjointed, connected only by a loose plot, making for a quite weak story overall. But aside from those complaints, it's a very solid classic point'n'click adventure in this modern era. It's got witty dialogue and clever puzzles, and it since it never takes it itself overly seriously (often parodying the era it's set in or the adventure genre itself), it has a cheesy tone that in my opinion made for a pretty funny and enjoyable and experience overall. I personally don't like the character art design, but the backgrounds are gorgeous to look at, the art does a good job of setting the tone and ambiance for each era.
This game is an all-time classic for me. Simple but compelling story with solid, memorable characters and really funny dialogue. Some great clever puzzles with the right amount of difficulty, and you can get hints in-game through dialogue if you're stuck. Amazing soundtrack and excellent voice acting. Endlessly replayable despite its linearity. Wonderful cartoony graphics with charming beautiful backgrounds by Bill Tiller. What's not to love? (the rushed ending due to time constraints probably, still an amazing game.)
