If you've played any MXGP game or other Monster Energy supercross, you've played this. Not that that's a bad thing, but I guess apart from a different roster (I honestly wouldn't notice, I just enjoy racing games, I no nothing of the actual "sport") it's the same game. The reason this get's a slightly lower score than usual is for 2 reasons: 1, HORRENDOUS LOADING TIMES. Seriously it takes a good 2-3 minutes to load 1 track, Forza Horizon can load a whole world in the same time and then that's it. This has the load screen everytime you do a race, even if you're restarting a race, it has to load the same track again... What the **** takes so long, seriously it's dreadful. 2, It has a very dumb grinding glitch, where you don't have to race most or even any races if you don't want. If you start and press "retire from race" you still get points for finishing and you will more than likely still come 1st, even on the higher difficulties. Now I had played through most of both 250 careers before I noticed this, so I still played a good portion of the game, but after you work that exploit out, you're going to use it aren't you!? If you don't mind being able to read a short novel in the loading times and just want to play a game that's the same as any one of these games, then go for it.
If this came out in the PS2 era it'd seem like a much better game. I'll start with the good things: I really like the car customisation, it's not huge (and it's irritating a game like this doens't have real cars) but it's still pretty good, so many games ignore most of this stuff now, but I've always liked doing up my car and it's pretty good in this. You can customise WAY more of your car than you can in say Forza, but, that's all there is good about it really. This truly feels like a PS2 era Need for speed. The car handling is pretty awful, everything feels like it's on ice until you want to go around a corner when the cars then feel stiff, it's strange. I picked this up for just under £5 and I'm not displeased. It's cack, but it's alright cack.
As a massive lover of Rock Band/Guitar Hero I was pleasently suprised with this game. It is a simplified Rock Band, but you kill zombies/monsters/baddy things. I'd never heard of it before it came on the GamePass but I loved it. If you're bad at rhythm games you'll be bad at (or just purely not like) this. On the lower difficulties it's just mash 2 buttons in time with the screen/music to kill things but it's very fun. The higher difficulties will have you puling your hair out it's so damn hard, but luckily you can co-op it. If you like Heavy metal, rock band/guitar hero or rhythm games, try this.
I swear I'm the only one that doesn't like this... I was looking forward to playing Doom Eternal and within about 10 minutes I remembered that I wasn't too keen on the original (2016) version of Doom either and the longer I played this, the more I hated it. Firstly, they added wall climbing elements... Why?! These are so annoying and badly implemented. At least Doom '16 had the grace to know it was just run around shoot things, rinse and repeat, but this one seems to have added in so much cack. I know the proper original Doom had puzzle elements to it (finding the keys etc) but this just felt so confusing about where to go half the time. I would like to say, I love dumb games, I wanted this to be fun and just run & kill everything, but I truly hated it. There was a game made a few years ago called Painkiller, if you want run around kill things repeat then play that, I preferred to Doom 2016, i certainly prefer to this tosh.
This is a hard game to review all in all. As a big fan of the previous games, sure they got slowly worse (and the Michonne game was a bit meh) but they were still good. This reminds me of Fast & Furious 7 where I think people gave it better reviews than it deserved purely because of the emtional ending. I won't spoiler anything and baring in mind this is the "Final Season" and it's the Walking Dead you know it's going to have an emotional end, but my God, I absolutely balled my eyes out at this. Worse than the ending to the first season, probably more than any game I can think of (although admitidly that's a short list). The genuinly found the majority of the first 3 episodes rather dull. 1 and 3 both have good endings and the "romance" bit is quite well done but in 7-8 hours of gameplay that's not alot. Part of the problem i think aswell is making the episodes longer. Every other game had minus 2 hour episodes, some even barely an hour, but that meant little padding. With the episodes being almost 3 hours a piece it feels way too long. It's certainly no Life is Strange in that respect. Then episode 4 happens and WOW! It is shorter, which maybe helps, as nothing drags. As I said it's an emotional finale, it's borderline perfect. So many "final" seasons of TV shows are a let down (see GoT, Lost or House) but this isn't. But herein lies the problem. Episode's 1 through 3 are 4 or 5/10 at most where as Episode 4 is perfect 10/10 easily! I'm aware this doesn't average out to 8/10, but I feel the finale deserves it.
I seem to have played alot of games like this recently. Really bad 2D "platformers". They're never just platformers anymore either, they're always puzzle games too. Now I never liked Limbo and this is like a bad version of that. I lost count of the amount of times I died thanks to stupid controls or just the character not doing as she was told. The end took me about 20 minutes longer than it should as she simply refused to climb a rope and kept dying. You might like this more than me as it's really not my thing, but I can recognise that it's also a REALLY bad example of this sort of "puzzle" platformer.
This is literally one of the worst games i've ever played. It get's a 1 for the fact it looks nice, but the visuals are almost too vibrant, i often found it hard to see what was going on because everthing seemes to blur into one way too colourful mess, although that might just be my eyes/brain. The gameplay is an aweful "run & gun" where you're shooter thing is impossible to aim especially as he moves depending on where you are. The opening level has NO checkpoints and is almost the hardest level of the game, it felt like I was playing Dark Souls in platform form, especially when I then got to the first boss which was equally stupidly hard. But then the next few levels were sooo much easier it's ridiculous, did no one play test this to check these things!? and no it's nothing to do with the the fact you get upgrades, because you can't upgrade anything useful (well at all really) you can just by new, all mostly useless weapons. You may as well just buy the "rocket launcher" type thing and the one that splits as it hits. I bought this on sale for 90p and felt ripped off, I truelly hated it.
This has to be the most dissapointed i've been with a game in years. It's like they went out of their way to make everything the opposite of the first game. A bland soundtrack, bad plot direction, annoying characters, weird jumps of time between episodes, complete lack of subtlety, the "choices", esepcially the ending choice, hell even the achievements were worse (collecting backpack charms... Give me a break!) Max and Chloe (and Rachel)'s story was beautiful, it made you cry, it made you shocked, it made you angry (for the right reasons) with bad guys. In this I just hated pretty much everything about it. Mainly Daniel to be honest, he was single handedly the most annoying character in a game for a long time. Also the ending (or at least the one I got) was just nothing. The only reason I gave this a 2 not a 0 was I enjoyed the bit with Sean and Cassidy, other than that... Just no. Biggest dissapointment of 2019 (that's when i played the whole thing anyway).
Great little dungeon crawler with Minecrat graphics. Not alot else to say really. As someone who doesn't particularly like dungeon crawlers I was pleasently suprised with this. I played the whole thing co-op with my wife which may have helped the fun, but I also loved a similar game Riverbond so maybe I only like cutesy (easy) dungeon crawlers... I have 2 gripes though: 1 - The final boss was a pain in the butt, but I think that was partly down to point 2. 2 -The way weapons/equipment are delved out is far too random. From level 15ish to 25 I was stuck with the same sword as I was never given a better one. I had an epicly strong crossbow, but a rubbish sword. My wife would get good stuff, but there's no way of swapping equipment between players or buying specific bits either, it's all random. But I really enjoyed playing this. It has very little to do with Minecraft other than the graphics, but yeah, it's on the Game Pass, which if you own an Xbox and don't have then there's something wrong with you!
This is supposed to be something to do with anxiety/mental health... As someone who suffers from anxiety and depression (amongst other things) I was intrigued. I vaguely got what they was trying to do, the smiley bloke is quite a good representation of things. One massive gripe I had though was you can't invert the camera... I mean seriously, in this day & age no inverted camera!? In the bit with the red search lights it was a nightmare, which I suppose was kind of appropriate really. For £2 (and the face i believe it was made by 1 person) this is alright, plus it's a very easy 1000 gamerscore.
There was a pretty big racing game sale on Xbox live last week and that's where I bought this. I really wanted a new racing game and there was quite a few to choose from I hadn't played, but this was the cheapest and seemed to have the best reviews too so I went for it... Dissapointed is the word. It's not terrible by any means and as a throw back to games like Outrun (or my personal fav Super Hang On) it does the job, it really does feel like a 8/16 bit era game just with tarted up graphics and I think that's the problem. It almost doesn;t feel like a racing game, cars are glued to the floor, you never need to let go of the gas and you just turn left or right. It's too simplistic I think. Even something like Burnout seems involved compared to this. It's also oddly hard, getting 100% on things takes a fair bit of effort, as does the achievements. But heyho, it's fun for an hour blast at a time I guess.
I'm glad I bought this on sale and only for the achievements as that's really the only good thing I can say about it. You can get the full 1000 in less than 30 minutes. The game itself is a pathetic excuse for a game, it's walk right a bit, read some words, do a terrible mini game, do it again a few times, have a predictable ending, 20 mins later, game done. On the ending front, I won't spoil it, but it's a nice happy indie game, so it's pretty obvious to guess how it'll end. I gave this 2/10, 1 point for the quite pretty graphics and the other point for the easy gamerscore. Apparently it's based off a kids book... If that helps you in anyway.
I was weirdly excitied when I saw this had came on gamepass. Not sure why, but apparently I really wanted to play a crazy golf game and it does what it says on the tin. It's a fun crazy golf game, that's it. My biggest gripes are some of the ball physics seem waaay off. The amount of time a ball will fly off in the sky with slightest bit of over power and also gauging the actual power is really hard as even 1 out of the 4 bars of power seems to send it flying sometimes. I also think it needs a fly over view type thing of the hole before hand as sometimes it's really awkward to work out where the hole is and yes I know you can press "Y" to have a look, but thats useless 90% of the time. But all in all, it's a fun way to waist a few hours with friends (or on your own like me :D).
This game infuriated the hell out of me. It looked nice and starts off "quirky" and charming, but but honestly I couldn't stand it very quickly. I don't really know why I kept playing it (oh yeah, i'm an achievement ****), but it really wasn't worth it. I think this is one of those games I just don't like. I wish 2D platformers would just be 2D platformers, but nowadays they have to be puzzle games too. Not my thing.
Marvel vs Capcom but with Power Rangers - i'm pretty sure this was the pitch for this game. Not that that's a bad thing, but the problem is MVC has something like 30 characters, this has about 12. Yes could spend £5 each on dlc to buy some new characters... Anyway. I enjoyed this. I think it's a bit unbalanced and it's quite easy to cheese victory with the Red Ranger, but I enjoyed it. I actaully won some online matches too which I was suprised at :D It's not amazing, but fun for a few hours.
Me and the wife recently discovered playing the Overcooked games together. Ignoring the occasional bit of arguing between us they're immense fun to play in co-op. So when I saw this come to gamepass we had to try it and it's really fun. It's no where near as good as Overcooked and the actual co-opness of Moving Out is probably not as needed as it is in OC, if anything it makes it a bit harder as some items of furniture require two people, but in single player they don't so in that respect it's easier in single player. But I suppose it's alot less on your own too. It's also short compared to OC (only took a few hours to complete the base game). But basically, play it with a friend and you should enjoy yourself for 3ish hours.
This is a weird game to review as I don't really know why it was good or why I enjoyed it. it's really just a massively glorified Streets of Rage. All you really do is watch a cutscene, run to an area, watch a cutscene, have a fist fight, run to an area, watch a cutscene, run to an area, have a fist fight. That's it! The cutscenes seem to take ages to get to the point too. I honestly wasn't paying attention to half of it (it's all in Japanese so it wasn't like I could follow it without looking) and yet I followed the plot fine. As someone who loves Metal Gear Solid I can deal with long cutcenes, but they were just too long in this. The fighting is fun, if stupid, judging from this game every other person in Japan is a thug and wants to kill you! Saying all this, I thoroughly enjoyed myself playing this, I just dont' entirely know why. Maybe it's the mountain of side stories, maybe it's the cheese factor, maybe I just don't know :D
Just amazing. When it was the Tuesday before release it suddenly dawned on me that this was coming out in a few days and I was very excited and as we all know, don't get excited you'll only be dissapointed. Well not with this. Truelly brilliant. Played through the whole thing with the wife and loved it (she has no taste and prefers Golden Axe... Urghh). It's a perfect modern sequel, even if it's more of a remake in terms of baddies etc, but then I suppose so was each game at the time. I know this is my first review, but I don't throw 10's around lightly, this is game is perfection, end of!
