The wolf of Wall Street is a mega movie and Leo’s best performance. There’s so much going on and it’s so **** worth it. It’s funny, it’s exciting, it’s gripping, it’s from the heart and my favorite part of all it’s PORN. Frankly I don’t mind it (I’m incredibly horny all the time). Jonah hill deserved the Oscar for that performance. His expressions, his delivery everything was top notch. Margot, second best she’s ever performed. Everyone was just great tbh. TWOWS is such a tale that intoxicates you and pushes you away. Incredibly synonymous to goodfellas but done on a larger scale. Matthew McConaughey is so **** good. My account is dedicated to his character in the film. You truly can’t take your eyes off of him in those 6 minutes. The only thing that makes me upset is that this movie has been subjected to so many kringe motivation posts. It’s not emotionally impactful but it is entertaining. Very, very entertaining. Thsts the only reason it’s up there with the greats. It also teaches you a lot. A lot about crime, a lot about people, a lot about money, a lot about power. And how one can lose it all.
“City of stars, are you shining just for me?” How I wish they were. God this movie makes every virgin truly feel like one. The movie wants to teach you how to love love and yet you start to resent it. The film is truly a technical perfection. Camera, light, colour, sound and effects. The soundtrack (original) is the best of any movie I’ve ever watched. From the theme song to the obscure background tracks. The music is a turn on fr fr. The characters themselves are anything but bland. The audience is invested in their story. Mia and Seb are only that great because of the on-screen chemistry between Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling. Love, hate, laughter, sadness carry the movie through the challenging streets of Los Angeles. I love that the movie gave an alternate ending for the basic **** watching it and it being heartwarming for them. But, the true ending which is so synonymous to real life is also shown for us filmbros and cinephiles. Damien Chazelle is a master of his craft. So if you’re in the mood for love tonight, watch it.

Gangs of Wasseypur is a chessboard. The singhs and the khans. But the only player playing is Anurag Kashyap. There’s plethora of pieces at his disposal fueled only by his creativity and his knowledge. A shocking set of checks, gambits and blunders carry the movie and leave the audience on the edge of their seat throughout. Enough with the chess though. Raw brilliance with the camera and lighting and powerful music carry the movie for me. Even otherwise, this story would be a bestseller should it have been a book because the dialogue and the twists are brilliant enough. Finally, the acting. **** Nawazuddin Siddiqui and **** Manoj Bajpayee are such brilliant performers that you can’t take your eyes off of them. Truly is a brilliant film. Even if you don’t speak Hindi or aren’t proficient at it, you need to watch this movie before you die.
From the opening shot to the final shot, Scorsese manages to captivate the audience. A team effort indeed with De Niro in the center of it all. Scorsese could have sacrificed an hour because three and a half hours is just under the runtime of Taxi Driver and Mean Streets put together. However, the ensemble cast and the music saves the movie. Another great collaboration from De Niro and Scorsese.
This film, in every sense of the word, is annoying. Woefully miscast and abysmally directed. The film however uses music to amazingly control and guide the audience through the film. However, Kenneth Branagh's performance was brilliant and the cinematography was intoxicating. The plot of the movie though is unnecessarily complicated. Bottom line: Nolan has done and can do much better.
The non-linear structure of the film keeps the audience on-edge. Nolan switches from narrative to narrative which may have been confusing for some viewers. The ensemble cast may be miscast as Hugh Jackman wasn't exactly great as Robert Angier. However, the movie's editing makes a tightly-packed and entertaining piece of art.
Everybody loves New York, but New York loves nobody. The film gives more importance to character than to plot. Characters are incredibly portrayed and the contrast between the characters is clearly visible. Considering that the film was made in 1973, a few technical errors can be forgiven but overall an incredibly well-made and fun film.
Another one of Scorsese's masterpieces. It's one of those movies where how and where you watch the movie, influences how you interpret this movie. Scorsese's second attempt at nightmarish portrayal; after 'Taxi Driver'(1976) didn't quite work as was expected maybe because of a weaker script. However, the suspenseful nature, cinematography, the acting and the humor saved the film. Brilliant!
