Absolutely one of the most beautiful and artistic games I've ever played. It's hard to articulate how relaxed and happy this game made me feel, and I think it's definitely one of best mini-games of its year for sure. Using the Sixaxis takes some getting used to, but this game is one of the very, very, very few that use it well. The music is outstanding, the scenery is hard to describe in one word, as excellent, or amazing would be an understatement, and the subtlety of the "story" is just spot on. The devs have been quiet about this game, but I'd really love to see a sequel, or even anything else similar to this.
SCV is alright, but I think every single previous game is better than this one. The storyline just reminds me of Zelda, where they just reboot the same story over and over again, but with slightly different elements, and slightly different incarnations of the same character living the same life. Except in this one, there are two new characters and... I don't really have anything to say about them. It's not like SoulCalibur has any characters with depth. It might as well just be a new kind of weapon. The storyline is not good, the game play is slower and clunkier than it's predecessors, there's less to unlock. But - the music is good, the landscapes and stages are good, and the graphics just get better and better. If only I could say the same for the gameplay.
Wow, this game was a mess. Why would you take a Tony Hawk game, that's on its 5th installment, meaning that 99% of your consumers are going to be previous fans, and change the controls and mechanics. And then have the cojones to introduce a new, completely counter-intuitive set of controls that pretty much break the game for anyone who expected a game similar to its predecessors? I don't understand the logic here. It's not like the controller drastically changed from its PS1/PS2 ancestors. Why not just match the controls, and expand on previous games? **** you're a THPS fan, this is not a THPS game. It's a foreign knockoff product calling itself one. Just stay away, and go play THPS HD.
To this day, I do not get the Mega Man Legends hype. I remember not really liking this game when it came out, but even trying it again as an adult...yikes. Compared to games that came out around the time, the controls are bad and unintuitive, the voice acting is laughable, the environment and graphics look like they came out of the N64 alpha stages, and while I understand the desire to break away from traditional Megaman elements, there could have at least been an attempt to bring SOME familiarity to the game. But the main character could have been replaced by anyone or anything, and you never ever would have known. No disrespect to anyone that's a huge fan of this game, but I firmly believe that this is one of those games severely affected by nostalgia goggles.
This game is exactly what you think ti is. It's an arcade game where you drive around and run over, or shoot, zombies. The zombies are uninspired, the weapons are uninspired, the upgrades are minor, the game is repetitive, and it just feels like shovelware. That said, there's nothing *wrong* with it. It seems like the devs just wanted a shallow, Smash TV-style shoot-em-up, and that's exactly what they accomplished, so you can't knock them for that. But this kind of game doesn't work on a single-player platform, sitting home alone, by yourself, doing the same things over and over again. You need more depth than that for the Campaign mode. But nope, all the depth is replaced with "LOL ZOMBIES", bringing no energy, no fun, no personal style, nothing. Just an old, boring cliche, in a sea of millions of zombie games. A cash grab at a dying trend. The beating of the old, skeletal remains of a long dead horse. It's a shame.
Solid, but extremely repetitive. The game isn't all that buggy, and there's absolutely nothing gamebreaking about it. If you're looking for a pretty alright game where you're a pilot, dogfighting in 1942, then this game is pretty fun. Especially considering you're likely to pick it up for chump change in a bargain bin somewhere.
