Witcher 3 does well in its portrayal of the medieval landscape. The countryside and small villages genuinely feel creepy. Has a huge map. The game can feel overwhelming initially, there is much levelling up in spells, potions and armour & weaponry. There are plenty of quests, but initially for a newcomer , it can feel confusing and a bit overwhelming as to what to do, in what order. You can easily progress down a quest without the appropriate items (like moon dust bombs) only to get slaughtered by the boss. ultimately it’s about levelling up , taking on a boss and progressing through the story. For me, the boss fights can be short lived , killing my character in under 10 seconds for instance, then I have to reload from last point.(waiting for a good few minutes) before I redo the fight. My interest in this game waned as a result. An instant respawn could have made this game more appealing for me.
