Resistance: Burning Skies5
Jun 2, 2012
I think that 5 or 6 out of 10 is about right. I must confess to being fairly underwhelmed by the single player campaign. For the most part it feels sparse, underdeveloped and a little shoddy. We all know, from Uncharted and Unit 13, that the Vita is capable of much better than this. The multiplayer is alright. It's a little choppy but it functions pretty well. For £40 I expected a lot more. I would however, have paid £30 for a faithful port of Resistance 3. Maybe if Sony aren't going to take unique Vita titles more seriously, then they should consider porting existing popular titles instead.

Uncharted: Golden Abyss9

Pretty epic for a handheld. The graphics are tremendous and the lighting is simply breathtaking. There are times when you just want to stand on the edge of a cliff, look out on the vistas and take it all in. While you're playing you really appreciate the effort that's gone in to creating such visual slendour. If I have one minor **** with the game, it's that there aren't quite the 'WOW!' blockbuster sequences we've come to expect from the Uncharted series. The storyline ticks along at a good pace though, without losing your interest, and the voice acting, as ever, is first-class. No online play but there is the Black Market feature - which allows players to trade their wares - and the hundreds of collectables within the game will keep you popping back to replay and complete levels. All in all, I'd say it's a brilliant game that's well worth anybody's money.

This game is nothing short of magical. Right from the off, there is something about the whole package that puts it in a class of it's own. Although there's no head to head racing, you do feel very much part of a community of players and that is rare. No sooner have you completed a challenge, when a pop up tells you that somebody else has 'battered', 'trounced' or 'humiliated' your efforts. It just makes you want to get back in a race harder and faster. It's the perfect game for on-the-go gaming in bursts but you can easily lose a few hours too, trying to shave tenths and hundredths of seconds off competitor's times. As spectacular as behing the wheel graphics have become, I don't think I've had such a laugh on a racing game for some time now.

If, like me, you are used to playing the PSP and ipod versions of FIFA then prepare to be absolutely amazed at how good this looks and plays. It IS the console FIFA experience on a handheld. Honestly, it's superb and the one game I've returned to since my Vita arrived. People might have a gripe with the lack of online features and that the game is ported from FIFA 11. This isn't a problem for me as I'm not a big online gamer. There is head to head though and the other game modes, like be a pro, are all there.
