Uncharted: Drake's Fortune6

This game should be mix of things I like, but leaves me really disappointed as it is mediocre in all aspects. The platforming is too simple even when compared to older games. The shoot and cover is not bad, but kinda tidious with unending waves of enemies. Some modesty in number of enemies would suite the whole game better. There are few puzzles, but it is rather following instructions from diary rather then something you would have to solve yourself. The story is fun, but could have been bit better than just some B movie version of Indiana Jones filled with cooky cutter personalities. Also the game is quite short, but that is probably good. I get that this was of the first AAA games on PS3, so the people were hyped, but how some serious reviewers could have give this game 10 points is beyond me. The potential was big, but wasted.

First thing to mention. The game was patch and changed hugely so lot of older reviews speak about quite different and worse game from one or two years ago so don't let them discourage you. I would say this is very good isometric RPG with real roleplay. The story is good and lets you do enough decisions and side quest are nice. It may not be equal to master of the genre as Planscape or Kotor, but it still better then most. What I really liked is turn based mode that suite well to PnP based RPG games, but is often omitted in many games like this. You can at will switch from turn based to real time with pause, so everybody can pick their preferred mode or use one that is more suitable at the time. The game is not holding your hand and you need to think a bit and do some exploration as you don't have an all knowing compass. Dialogs are well written and gives you choices that are better then just bad/good and contains lot of check for your non fighting skills. If you are mage, you will be able to solve problem differently to rouge, fighter or druid. Fights are good mix of challenging, medium with occasional super easy that let you enjoy your superior power. I got only one really frustrating early in the game against some swarm, but it could been avoided. The quest are quite good and they have their meaning not like in many modern open world games where huge portion of them is just filler. Some of the guest are time dependent or exclusive, so the order of completion will lead into different results. This is quite nice for immersion and replay value TLDR: Very good game. Must have if you like this genre. Improved a lot from release so don't take old reviews too serious.

This is easily the third best game done by Piranha Bytes (after Gothic and Gothic 2). So if you like their games just go and try it. Do no expect AAA title. it was on was created on smaller budget and it shows. The game could use some more polishing, but everything works. It is a good old school RPG with world that is not scaled to your level (some new more advanced monsters will appear as you progress the main line, but that is tied to your level ). There will be monsters you would have avoid till you are strong warrior, but there is always a way around the dangerous territories. The story is quite good it is not KOTOR level, but will beat most of the generic stories in today RPGs. It also provides not so comon universe where magic and technology coexists. You will enjoy actual role-playing as most of the quest allows you different approaches both on what skill you use or what side you choose. The choices are also not just simple bad/good, but are more about what you think is right. So are the factions in this game. Lot of people says they are stupid, but I think they mostly hate that they are is not one super cool one they can totally relate to, but rather each have its problems. I think this quite well suites the narrative of the game and make it quite immersive. All of them have their agenda and different approach to technology vs magic, freedom vs laws etc. and each have their pros and cons and even some people inside the factions may have bit different opinion where the faction should really go. You are probably not going to find your perfect match, but rather pick one that is closest to your opinions or just go for the weapons/skills they provide, but should be just fine as it fits the narrative. Fight is pretty good is not just some button masher, but you actually have to thing a bit and strategize and use your jet pack to your advantage and sometimes run and come back later when you level/gear up. The exploration is really fund and rewarding and there is often multiple ways how get somewhere. Some may be have more enemies other will be harder to move through so you can choose. The compass is quite minimal and doesn't show you each cave like TES so you actually have to look around. Don really get all the negative reviews. Yes the games have some quirks and is not mainstream for everyone, but giving the game four and less is just weird. Those people also often writes some like I have played the game for 2 hours, they just peaked into they have not enough information to judge the game.

I don't think this should be referenced as game. I was able to finish it only forcing myself, because I got bored and the game is just hour long or so, therefore I cannot go over 4. On the other hand technically there is nothing wrong with it. It look nice, aesthetically and it have technical quality of graphic on good level. The landscape is very good and believable and I think even big sandbox games could take few notes here. The story is good it presented too slow and so deep as presented. Obviously from the other reviews there is lot of people that like this kind of simulation (i won't use the word game). So if incline to stuff like this then you do get it. If you never tried something like it, try it as it is super cheep. Other wise it would be rather waste of the time.

I would like to point out I have no problem with older games and I remember times number of colors in games was 3 digit numbers or even less and I like to play those game and play quite old games even now, but when it is port I would expect higher standards then in original game at leas for UI and graphic. One to one port from mobile version, absolutely no enhancement of graphic that may look good on 5" phone, but is just terrible on 25" PC display. Just more details in textures so you don't have to see those super big pixels, would be enough I don't really expect much, but this looks worse then some of those one man show games. UI is completely obsolete and you cannot even use mouse and most of the task is quite unintuitive. Changes in this wouldn't ruin nothing of the old game spirit, so only things that come in mind is either laziness or they just wanted made as much as possible on as low effort as possible. As for the game it is also bit out of date, but still can be fun. If you are not into FF or JRPG it would appeal to you much and it will start to be quite repetitive quite soon. The monsters are the same with slightly different statistics, there is basically no change at all beside different models. The story is mediocre, with some nice moments and was quite good at it dates, but I have played quite few games with better story. This game may have been one of the best at the time of its original release, but today is have not much to offer and the execution of port is poor. If you are not into FF or you don't want to try how really old rpg games were like, there is no reason to buy this game. It is bit shame as the potential was good, but it got wasted.

For anybody who have played predecessor this is by far more balanced, stable, nicer, enjoyable. More or less typical free world third person RPG if you like such games you should try it. The most outstanding thing would be magic **** are using set of cards you can buy or find to create spell. For example you can use card for fire and missile an you have fireball than you can add card for bouncing and the missile fill hit more targets. Use summoning cards with different card and would summon different types of creatures. The story is quiet nice with complementary twist, starting few years after end of first game it once again revolves around your sister being prisoner of Gandahar, nothing too deep, but standart for this types of RPG. There is plenty of side quest for guilds or common folks. I would like to mention horse riding as it is done bit differently as we are used to and you have to goad the horse to have good speed constantly this feel more realistic then just push forward **** can also sail (you new to use wind properly) which was also nice diversification. There is new upgrade system when you can deconstruct old items to upgrade new one you can also use pigments to recolor your cloths and add jewels to add magic properties. You need to have skill for this. There is also crafting skill for alchemy. There is enough of different environments and you will visits savannas, dessert, jungle, swaps, magically corrupted lands and one big desert and one big oriental city. Each type of environment have its own typical inhabitants. Fight is pretty classic system of hit and cover melee combat, ranged attacks and mage casting with stuff used for covering and hitting. You can also use various skills to enhance you fighting capabilities or use traps to help yourself. Enemies have small icons that represents their resistances so you can pick up most suitable weapon/spell to kill them. I got from the game what I was expecting and saw few original features, graphic was nice and game was long, but not to long so something above 8.5 should be appropriate for it.

I just don't get it have some people can rate this game so high. The port is complete fail. I don't really care about graphic, but I feel cheated as they deliver sub standard port where you can't even change the resolution not mention anything else. This go even further as they were not able even remove default mouse cursor Think like game is running in window mode by default is just detail. It scream loudly lets get some money out of it while it is still popular. Controlling is not really good while playing on game pad and from time to time you would feel like you need one more finger, the latency of you clicking is quiet slow and sometimes you just look how your character is still doing something while you are trying to do something else. Also sometimes miss-click may cost you your life and trust me it happens more often than pleasant. If you would think you can play it with keyboard forget it they just tried to map game pad directly to keyboard and it is just unplayable. If you do not own gamed or planing to buy one don't by the game. The game looks great even in oldish graphic it have its charm and is quite original with nice sceneries. The system of stats, weapons, armours and magic is good but nothing really original, what I liked a lot was weapons are not purely based on strength or dexterity but it partially on both and the ratio depends on each weapon. Also I really like how weapons don't just go through the walls but actually stop the attack as if you hit enemy shield. There is one more problem and that is camera I found myself dead few times just because I could not seen myself and saw just wall behind me or boss or something like this instead or when I used lock on enemy this occasionally picked someone than wasn't even endangering me instead of the creature that actually killed me before I managed to hit because of this. The best think about this game should have be that it is hard and challenging and that was the reason I bought this game in a first place as I love such game and they are really spare nowadays, but somehow I can see it her. The part where you are fighting with non-boss monsters is just normal nothing changeling (if camera don't do its tricks or you up dead because of the lazy controller) . Fight with bosses are deadly hard, but the strategy is not so hard to made only problem is the execution when you can die easily as they can kill you with one or two blows, this wouldn't be such a problem it was not quite often result of bad camera or problematic control. Your dead will result in re-spawn of you but also all monsters so you need to get through repetitive fights with lesser monster again and again as you will never beat the boss in few first tries. This was quite boring to me. I don't know, I just can't see than supper challenges and hardcore difficulty, I see hardcore bosses, but the rest is more like problems of camera and controls or tedious killing without any real difficulty or challenges. On one hand I liked lot of aspects of this game very much and it brought lot good stuff, but have also lot of problems and things that were plainly shoddy done in process of porting. I think this is most inconsistent game I have ever played what is really shame as it could have one of the best games I have ever played with just a bit of polishing here and there and some proper porting

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic10

This is one of the classic BioWare RPG. Do I have to say more? This is the first time they are leaving D&D as base of their RPG. The game is still based on pen & paper like rules and feels like sci-fy version on D&D. The story is happening in the universe of Old Republic (the is long before Star Wars movies) so creators have enough space for their own creativity, but still fans of SW will see lot of familiar places. Player cannot choose any race but human this is little bit shame, but no worries shortly you will find lot of companions, so you would enjoy playing as wookiee or android. As it is common for BioWare every companion have his own agenda and history and would by stepping into conversation when he think he have something to say. As the story will proceed you will be getting more informations from their past and from time to time they will ask you to help them. The story is really great and with twists and stuffs that make RPG good RPG. It will lead you to different planets each is completely different world with own culture, flora, fauna and inhabitants. Main quest is pretty long and there is also lot of side quests I spent 40 h on first play through. The game have good repeatability as you can choose if you are going to complete quests with affliction to light or dark side of the Force plus there are also different possibilities how to solve problems based on yours skill as persuading, stealth, repair, computers, demolition each have its own use an there is now skill that would be there just for numbers as it in many games. The fighting system is intuitive. Fights with easier opponents may feel bit dull, but at least they are quick. You are able to use different items as grenades, mines stimulants, different skills for shooting and melee weapons and also force powers as stun, push-back or throwing your lightsaber. Graphic is pretty good and in full HD resolution still look really good as this from 2003. I think this is one of the best RPG ever made a have all those things that nowadays sand box RPG lack depth, emotions you really like some characters and you don't do quests just for money, but you really wan't to help somebody or stop that bad guy.

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time6

This is a perfect example how much otherwise really good game can be destroyed by stupid control system and camera. The control of movement is based on camera position so when the position of camera is changed(this happen as you are moving through) you just start running in different direction than before. In fights sometime camera so stupidly placed you see big pillar and you and your opponents are hidden behind it. But that is not the worst problem of fights, that is definitely auto locking of targets. It is quiet terrible, you have to finish your opponent with your dagger when he is on the ground, but even when he is in front of you and is the closest thing to you the prince actually start attacking somebody else who is not not even next to you nor are you facing his directions instead of finishing that poor sod under your foots. This is pretty annoying as the opponent just stand up while you try retake control over prince. Also jumping and rolling is on same button and the action is taken based on context so it is quiet usual prince is doing something else that you would wish him to do. All the other things as graphic(taking the age of this game into consideration), soundtrack, originality of location and game play are pretty good and I really enjoyed cooperation with that girl who is following you, the puzzles are fun maybe little bit to easy and overall the quality of this game is really good, but the problems of control system is drawing it down and I cannot make myself giving it more than 6 points. If the control system was working properly a would give it 9.

If you liked Gothic series this is must have title. Nice story, three different sides to join with, where non of them is god or bad. Big live believable world with no loadings. Good RP factor, you can decide how or if you are going to complete quest, sometimes NPC joint to help you with your quest. Nice craftsman skills of creating weapons, jewellery, potions and scripts cooking they are not so deep as in MMO games, but they are decent and make game more complex. The only problem is combat system enemies seams to be stronger than you and seams to be unfairly advanced in combat (quicker attack and block). Also I am not big fan of combat systems that are not purely states based in RPG.
