It's sure not as good as the PC version, but SC64 was a great substitute while waiting for my brother to finish up on the computer when I was a kid. I'll start by listing the few things this version did better than its PC big brother; BIGGER ARMIES! Yes, undoubtedly my favourite feature of SC64 was that the grouping size was expanded from 12 units to... 24? 18? Honestly can't remember the exact number, it's been a while. The other high note was that SC64 contained the entire game; as in all six campaigns, including Brood War. This made it a nice contained package without needing to buy/install both the base game and expansion (There was no editor, however). Aaaaaand now to the bad. It's ugly... one of StarCraft's strengths was always its great design work, but on SC64, the visuals really do suffer. Perhaps the biggest issue, however, is framerate. For small maps and missions the game works fine, but by the time you reach the huge missions toward the end of the Brood War campaigns, the framerate becomes almost unplayably low. The same is the case for multiplayer. The split screen multiplayer is great for small maps, but large late-game matches suffer terribly. At the end of the day StarCraft 64, like every console RTS I've played, just doesn't really come together like it should. With all that said though... I remember it very fondly from a nostalgic viewpoint.

Pretty fun, but forgettable. Works nicely for a mobile port. The art style is bright and fun, and there's a nice mix of historical and fictional planes throughout. Main drawback is its rather short length; I only got 4 hours out of it.

I've search far and wide for another game even remotely close to Urban Assault, and every single one of them has fallen short. Sure, its super repetitive and every mission basically plays exactly the same, but Urban Assault's core mechanics have always been enough to keep me coming back to it. One thing to note is that Urban Assault's storytelling is convoluted as hell. There's no clear good or evil among the human factions, with each side's mission briefings weaving a very different view of one another (Note that only one faction is playable without the expansion... which was never officially released). I've always considered this one of the game's strengths, as it helps to create the game's inrcedibly bleak and broken world. Urban Assault's graphics are pretty rustic (about what you'd expect from 1998), but the overall look of the game still holds up, mostly due to its dirty and dark aesthetic being a pretty accurate reflection of the story world. Urban Assault is, to me, the forgotten crown jewel of the RTS/FPS hybrid genre. Its a flawed beast and I love every blemish.
