It's criminal that at the time of writing this, the game sits at an out of warranty 5.5 user score. The game released with problems, I get that, but as of today it is everything they promised it would be and one of the standout games in the genre. The work the team has done over the years to turn this ship around is commendable and it should be noted. With so many examples of devs abandoning projects when they release to universal distain, they believed in their idea, and realized a masterpiece. That should only be celebrated because in an alternate universe this game would be collecting dust in the deep recesses of forgotten media.
The creators of Motordoom's first project is a humble attempt at a shoestring soulslike that doesn't take itself seriously at all. Although I appreciate the charm of something clearly trying to have fun, it heavily relies on its absurdity and humor, without which there's not much here. The gameplay is clunky, barebones, repetitive and it's not blowing anyone's socks off.
