Would be a great game if it wasn’t for the horrible crafting system. I enjoy flying, collecting, attacking, fishing, and would enjoy crafting if it wasn’t random guessing and so many combinations. Just let me craft some ammo and go fight. I resisted buying for a long time because of the mixed reviews. Wasted money. Too bad horrible crafting mechanics have to ruin a fun game.

Ori and the Will of the Wisps6
Dec 29, 2020
Such a beautiful game and fairly smooth gameplay. The Switch has a hard time with graphics but it’s still smooth enough to enjoy. Where it falls short for me is the difficulty navigating the large platforming areas (easy to get lost or not know where to go to get to your destination), and some annoying platforming areas that are frustratingly difficult. The controls could have been changed some to help this. A beautiful game, but after getting a few hours in I can’t bring myself to play anymore. I enjoyed the gameplay of celeste more. Even though it is also frustratingly difficult, I wanted to pick it up and play again. Not so with Ori.

Better than watching sports. This game keeps challenging you to improve and improvise. It’s like being in a sport match, but every 10 minutes or so you’re in a new match. So much fun! My favorite and most played game across all platforms. “Calculated”

Soul Searching (2017)7
Oct 29, 2019
Soul Searching is a fun game that kept me playing. I think the pace and difficulty was perfect! I especially enjoyed exploring, fishing, and upgrading. The story was a bit dark and depressing but I think that was kind of the point. I would have rather it stayed more upbeat and like a high fantasy story (something like Earthsea), but it was still interesting enough. The extra stories were interesting too. Definitely shows that an engaging narrative can keep you going even with poor graphics. I was left wanting more to explore and hope the developer updates the game with a long adventure storyline without all the depression dialogue. The coop is a great addition too! I’d love to see more content for coop!

SteamWorld Dig 210
Sep 29, 2017
I have not played the first Steamworld Dig, having assumed it was just another indie platformer that would sit in my collection unfinished. After getting the Nintendo Switch I have been reading about upcoming games and came across Steamworld Dig 2. I thought I would read some of the reviews from the first game and see what this new one was all about. I admit that the game trailer wasn't all that **** decided to give it a try. What an awesome game! I played through and enjoyed almost all of it (there were a few challenging parts that I was just not prepared for). The only real complaint would be that it is too short ****, but for the price it is worth the ~10 hours of gameplay. I'm not sure if I would play through it again, but I will likely pick up after the last save and see if I can complete all of the caves. The game feels very well paced with goodies and upgrades coming steadily, but not easily (played on Normal mode). The graphics are pleasing and the gameplay is smooth. I was impressed by how smooth the controls felt. Only two issues held me back a bit (I wanted to swing my pickaxe in the air and the jetpack is tricky through spiky areas). I am excited for a Steamworld Dig 3!

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild10

Excellent game! No, it may not be perfect for everyone, but what game is? It saddens me to see that there are now many 0-3 scores by users who, instead of giving their honest score value, seem to be rating it very low on purpose just to throw off the high score reviews. To quote a TIME Magazie article: "...Exploring its expansive collage of verdant, gelid and sun-scorched zones is akin to tromping onto the set of a painterly Studio Ghibli film. It's like nothing else Nintendo has made, an experience so simultaneously prodigious and accomplished that it feels like a mind-blowing mic drop to the sort of "open world" games (Grand Theft Auto V, The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim, The Witcher 3) the industry seems bent on proliferating...." - ****/4683122/zelda-breath-of-the-wild-review/ I have played games on many systems since my Vectrex back in the early 80's...plenty of genres and more time than I should have. I definitely give this a 10/10 rating. I really have no complaints other than wanting to play it every chance I get. :) I have played most of the Zelda games and they have kept many recognizable elements from the series. Just when I think this game has shown me all it can, I am surprised again. This has happened numerous times and I am not yet half way through exploring the world. For those who are rating it a 0 or 1 just because of one or two things, please stop skewing the stats just because you want to spite other people. I am giving an honest 10/10 because this game truly has blown my expectations away, from the epic battles to the subtle environmental background sounds...this is truly an immersive experience allowing me to create my customized journey through Nintendo's epic story.

I can't believe the negative reviews for this **** I think many gamers (especially young ones) expect every game to be released exactly how they want it. This is wrong, and if you followed the game over the last year or so, you would have not been disappointed. The game is exactly what it is supposed to **** many of the complaints are because of the repetitive grind (for resources and storage slots). While I could have done without the grind for resources, this is typical of many games. So what...grind through the first 10-15 hours, then start exploring the rarer planets (green, red, and blue)! I gave it a 9 simply because I think the grind was too long...people just want to get out there and play the game, not sit on the hedonic treadmill of gather/upgrade for the first part of the game. I do think Sean would have been better off not adding the different color planets and required warp drives because people would not have had to grind, but I'm glad to now be able to go directly to more appealing planets. :) Space combat isn't bad...once you upgrade your ship! Sentinels are varied and make gathering much more interesting that most games out there... Resource gathering is MUCH faster than some games I've played (Minecraft, WoW, SWG, etc.) I love the fact that once you do the grind to obtain the ****'re set! Now you can get on to do what the game is truly about: exploration and survival! Sure, they did try to market the game with combat and **** these do exist...just as they do in many other games. Nothing new here, and I think that's one reason people are dissapointed. They wanted some new combat and **** while crafting and trading could be improved upon possibly...(some games have added small additions to make it more fun), who would ever really want to play a game to trade? It's trading...quite boring in any game! Fighting can be **** this isn't an FPS game! The combat is basic, but meets the requirements (shoot, sprint, jetpack/jump, kill, and blow stuff up). Were people expecting some new FPS? If they ****? Did they follow this game at all? Exploration is fun! If you like to explore, then it will be a fun game once you get past the grind to upgrade. Just when I think I've seen the same old stuff...I find a new planet that looks very different. Still sci-fi with the similar color pallets, but awesome! I loved exploring minecraft **** I LOVE exploring No Mans Sky! If you think of the technical achievement with this **** is outstanding! Minecraft graphics are horrible and it runs like crap using Java, but people love it. No Mans Sky is similar because while it may not be a AAA title with thousands of people working on it, the small team has pushed the limits to produce a beautiful procedural game. Just think...10 years from now the graphics capabilities will catch up (hard to render all that stuff on the **** PS4 and fastest PC can't keep up if you cranked up the graphics!) and we will be playing procedurally generated games like skyrim, COD, Minecraft, etc. but they will look awesome too! I will play COD again if they create a version with procedural generated maps...every round will be a new, unique game without the campers, nade spammers, etc.
