Total War: Rome II

Horrible UI Broken AI Downright wacky graphical issues and horrible performance. Ships sailing on land and zombie soldiers. Instant Fleets from armies making the naval aspect pointless. 1 year turns so generals die off instantaneously. AI can't use siege equipment and uses magical torches that burn down reinforced gates and then bum rushes them with the whole army to be slaughtered. Oh yeah and CA refuses to even address this. 1 minute arcade style battles. Endlessly long AI turns. No political system. Units don't hold formation and battles become giant mosh pits requiring no strategy. Campaign videos gone, general trees gone, every multiplayer feature in Shogun II gone. It's quite simply the worst total war ever, a shameless cash grab and an insult to every fan. It's actually one of the worst games I've ever played. Do not buy this game. It should be called "Total Garbage Rome Blues". And it can't be patched to get better. There are too many design flaws and CA already stole everyone's money. I'm sure they're spending most of their time getting this trash ready for a stupid console port. What a joke.

Mount & Blade

I want to like Mount and Blade. The idea is great. Simulate being a feudal knight or lord. Manage a fiefdom or kingdom and lead your troops to battle. And Mount and Blade can be fun. However, this game really fails in single player and pushing your campaign forward. I understand some will stick with it and be rewarded. But having to go to a city to ask where someone is located every time is quite tedious. You're forced to move inventory one at a time. I've often wandered the map and not known what to do. Graphics **** but it's not important compared to the aimless direction. This is in the category of could be great but just mediocre.

First of all, the most common complaint about this game is that it's too hard. And it is hard, casual gamers need not apply. Elven Legacy and it's predecessor Fantasy Wars are inspired by Fantasy General and the Panzer General series. This is old school hex based strategy. If you're interested in a strategy game focused on tactics with a steep challenge you will love this series. The difficulty can be overwhelming but all the missions can be won. Obtaining gold level objectives often isn't as important as exploring the map for items and experience. So just disregard that criticism if you hear it in reviews. Graphics are beautiful and I love that entire units are shown when you zoom in. Great RPG elements with heroes, items and leveling units. My only complaint is that the map overview is always backwards when the mission starts. The plot is just filler and it would have been nice to have the dialogue rendered in cut scenes like Heroes V. Don't listen to the haters though. This game is dope. Any old school strategy gamer will love this game. Get ready for some saving and loading though!
