Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice5
Dec 29, 2020
It's not Tenchu, it's not Dark Souls.... it's Sekiro but sadly Sekiro did not resonate with me. From linear combat approach to cryptic and uninteresting characters and worst of all horrible stealth mechanics ( which are easily abused ) the game is at best average. Sure the world is pretty and its big, music is ok but it is the gameplay that will either pull or push the player away. This is probably the only game where I can safely say I am being biased and didn't enjoy the combat and the last boss was a test of my patience. In most other games you have at least a choice on how to deal with enemies, whether it will be different choice of weapons, range combat, different skills, stealth or just simply character / armor builds.... but not in Sekiro. Because of that the game really closes itself to a lot of players and you either like it or not.

After playing it for more than i should have ( around 40-50 hours ) I can safely say that It was a waste of my time. In fact EVERYTHING about this game is a waste of YOUR time. Sure in the beginning you feel rewarded, exploration is fun, getting used to the combat everything is fresh. However sink as little as 10 hours and you will realize that this game was meant to be PAY to PLAY. Gacha mechanics are a pure cancer. I have never enjoyed gambling and never will. There is NO WAY that anyone can say :" By adding gatcha mechanics this game can get better. " It is the opposite. Not only THE BEST CHARACTERS and THE BEST WEAPONS are LOCKED BEHIND LOTTERY / LOOT BOXES but also the CHARACTER PROGRESSION! ( some of the more powerful skills are locked behind Constellations ie. Skill Tree that you can only get by getting the DUPES of the same characters ). Co Op is laughable as you are VERY limited to what you can do ( because chests and RESIN - a currency that limits how many Dungeons/Bosses you can do in a day )... Combat is OVERHYPED and it revolves around DOING the MOST Elemental Combos ( that ofcourse REQUIRE 5 STAR Characters which I HAVE YET TO SEE or not since I have quit this game ). Not only there are no blocks or parries but you are pretty much forced to play around weaknesses of your enemies. If you don't have the damage well you are in for a LONG LONG and boring fight ( A lot of bosses such as FLYING ELEMENTALS can be only damaged when flying by archers or mages.... so yeah you will be WAITING A LOT... even more so when you haven't leveled your archer and the weapon you have hits like a wet noodle ). The World is beautiful, exploration is fun and the characters are likeable but underneath all this lies a greedy predator waiting for you to open your wallet. ON EVERY POSSIBLE STEP. Your progression will become VERY VERY STALE to the point of getting maybe 1 wish per 2 days.... that is 1 chance at a lottery. ( You will not get what you want and most of the weapons are garbage. ) I never got a character or a weapon that I wanted. Sure you can make multiple accounts because in the beginning they will shower you with free LOTTERY tickets but its a waste of time if you ask me. This could have been easily 7 or maybe even 8 out of ten but GATCHA and BORING COMBAT ( im sick of seeing SAME SLIMES and SAME GOBLINS ALL OVER THE PLACE! ) makes it for a really frustrating and slow experience. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.

Summer Pockets6
Feb 15, 2020
I like Key's work. I really do. Played Kanon, Clannad, Planetarian etc. so I grew to expect quality. Summer Pockets however does not meet the standards of Key's work. Music is forgettable, art style although looks ok it looks weird at times... from backgrounds to male characters. I'm not sure whether is the color palette or shading in general, it just looks unnatural to an eye ( in some instances ). Story is uninspired and quite honestly boring ( i found myself skipping a lot of text because it was just too bland ) and before you know it the credits start rolling. Yeah... no kidding. As per usual ( in Key's VN ) to get the ending you want you will have to experiment with different choices ( sometimes the most obvious decision will actually lead to a bad ending so don't rely on logic but rather on experimentation and "feeling" ) That brings us to WRITING... its bad. Not all of it, there is a "Key's Soul" present ( some jokes, characters etc. ) but its been dumbed-down. No longer we have long interesting routes with plot twists but rather almost one dimensional characters that doesn't surprise anyone. Especially one character comes in particular " the one who says OPPAI / BOOBS " all the time ( im leaving the names and situations to avoid spoilers ). It just feels unnecessary, unnatural and right in your face. Key doesn't need to pull cheap tricks for the sake of fan service... thats not what we want. We were looking for stories to remember, to move us, make us laugh... something to relate to. Well some people will like it I'm sure of it but for me it really falls short of what KEY can do ( and trust me they have the talent and resources ). Personally I would not recommend this VN. There are better one's out there especially with this price point. P.S : Table tennis and pokemon battles ****.

Remnant: From the Ashes8
Dec 23, 2019
Solid Co Op shooter with light melee combat. Wished we had more of those. Strong points of Remnant - Fun Combat, Rewarding Exploration and puzzles, Variety of skills, armors and guns to find and build your character around. Weak points - Short. Level design is bland, certain bosses offer too much of a difficulty spike thanks to "trash" mobs spawning constantly ( that feels really lazy ). The game is worth a buy but it has it's shortcomings. The best however is yet to come as the Development Team is working hard to support it through 2020 with new content such as : New Bosses, Weapons and Game modes ( Survival/Horde Mode ).

This game is as average as it can get. From graphics to combat the game doesn't excel at anything. Lack of armors and bland choice of weapons makes it a chore to progress through a game rather than provide a fun experience. Story is absolutely awful ( with some cutscenes unskippable ). SPOILERS AHEAD : Your hero is mute and most of the screen time is given to NPC's... as they push the story. It made me feel like a bystander rather than a main character. This could have been ok IF THE NPC's were actually interesting. However writing is lacking and the whole story doesn't really show how dark or desperate the characters or the world is. END OF SPOILERS. Bosses range from way too easy to really annoying. However the biggest obstacle is the "NPC INVASIONS". You can get attacked by a group of enemies that spawn until a you kill certain amount of them. They do not get staggered the same as the player ( it takes 2-3 attacks to stagger them, yet the player will get his/hers skill or attack interrupted just by one hit... ) add to that corridor design of the levels and we have a recipe for disaster. Not all is bad however and the game can be enjoyable when you find the right skills and weapons to work in certain scenarios. Those moments however are rare as you will be constantly changing skills to test new ones or level up passive abilities... All in all it is a game that is mediocre but it could have been much more. Either they were afraid to create something darker and harder or they just wanted to appeal to a broader audience or perhaps they lacked artistic talent.... we will never know.

RUNE II: Decapitation Edition4
Nov 14, 2019
Just wow.... This game is a mess. Ever since the beginning Human Head ignored player's feedback ( stamina bars, combat, empty world with MMORPG enemy respawn style which means you will get attack over and over again if you stay for a minute or two in the same place ) Steam users were used as a Beta Testers with NO REAL reward but a slap to the face when they heard the game is heading to Epic store, player's feedback ignored ( most of us wanted the game to be like the old Rune HOV ) fast hack n slash action combat with no stamina limit and useless progression but the DEV team had a different idea for Rune 2. The Result is a buggy unoptimized mess with obnoxious Villan and "Ragnarok Timer" that only frustrate rather than add anything to gameplay. Combat is "WONKY," at times hits do not register even if you clearly stabbed the enemy in front of you with a spear, you can get clubbed to death because enemy attacks are absolutely impossible to tell whether they use heavy or light attack ( both of them are fast ). Add to that FAST enemy SPAWN, limited stamina and you will die more due to unbalance, horrible on screen effects that will block your vision, wonky hitboxes and bad combat. Human Head studio also announced that they will be "Closing Doors". Wow.... I bet they knew that they don't have much time left so they took Epic's money to recuperate some of the expenses... Rushed the game and now who knows whether they will be able to even fix it ( or release it on Steam ). I would advise anyone to save their money and stay away from this horrible mess which is Rune 2. What a shame... I really was looking forward to it but its nothing like the Rune HOV.
