It's nice to play this game again that I loved playing in the 1990s. Despite updated graphics, the gameplay gets repetitive and compared to recent games it's just not that interesting anymore. Decent for a strategy game which makes you think about what units to use against which enemies, but it can get a bit tiresome, when you already know how to defeat the enemy, you can the entire map and it's just a matter of time; collecting gold, lumber, generating new units and then in 30-60 minutes or so, you've beaten the level.
I played the demo on PS5. It's a somewhat enjoyable game but over time it gets repetitive. There will be so many enemies surrounding you at later stages that you will just bash square and triangle to take them out and usually within 2-3 seconds you get attacked so you don't have much time for any special moves. It's bash, bash and roll away and do it again. There's many bugs in the demo that I hope they can get rid of before the game is released. Sometimes an enemy would be released outside of the combat area, basically it's stuck behind some wall or fence so it can't move and the level won't finish. Fortunately with special moves and guns you can kill it and move on. I've also had a few times that I still had lots of armor and life left and suddenly I just died. I made it to the end of the game today by playing from level 21 to 30 and then I continued on for another 10 levels or so. Then the game froze and I lost all progress. You can also see a significant drop in framerate when there are lots of enemies and there's much going on on the field; even the quality of the character was going down and I was clearly seeing pixels. The bosses are also quite inconsistent. I had to try the first boss at least 5 times to defeat him as it was so difficult but the boss after and also the final boss I beat without getting hit even once. So decent to play for a bit but I don't think I would buy this game.
