TRON: Ares

TRON: Ares is arguably the best tron film we've had so far, blending the world of the grid and the world of the users unlike ever before, compared to its predecessors’s focus on just the grid. It's visually stunning and has a great electronic soundtrack like it's predecessor, while also having nice call backs to both predecessors. The story is well-paced, an improvement over Legacy. Best enjoyed after watching it's predecessors, Tron: Ares is another solid entry in the franchise, and I'm looking forward to any future installments.

TRON: Legacy is visually stunning, even to this day. It manages to continue the story from the first while being fresh at the same time. Also, Daft Punk's electronic soundtrack is amazing, contributing well to the atmosphere. While it lacks the same charm of its predecessor, it’s still worth a watch.

TRON (1982) may have dated visuals by today's standards, though it has classic 80's charm, and arguably the best story in the series. It's not a masterpiece, though it's a classic that's worth watching for any tech nerds, or those who love 80's nostalgia or aesthetics.

Goblet of Fire is one of the best in the series, and deserves it’s praise. It acts as a coming of age film, capturing teenagers even better than it’s predecessor. The Yule Ball contributes, practically being the wizarding world equivalent of prom/homecoming. All of the three tasks are well done and action packed, with a tremendous effort put into the making of them, including the continuously improving special effects. All of this leads to an encounter that’s a core moment of the series. Goblet of Fire is, indeed, a Must Watch for teens and older.

Chamber of Secrets improves upon it's predecessor, still keeping the charm from the original while having a darker tone and story. While Sorcerer’s Stone was a great introduction, Chamber of Secrets furthers the story and has a more engaging plot, and more action than before. All of this is complimented by the vastly improved special effects, allowing the magic to flourish. Chamber of Secrets is a great improvement over the first and a good entry in the franchise for all ages to enjoy.

Sorcerer’s stone is a great introduction to the wizarding world on screen. It’s mostly lighthearted and charming while still hinting at what’s to come in the darker, later entries. With good acting among the children and adults, an intriguing plot, and amazing setpieces, this film is a must see for kids and families.

Prisoner of Azkaban has a much darker tone than the previous, while still keeping some of the charm. In their third year, Harry and his friends are now teens, which this film manages to capture properly. There’s even more action than before and the plot is much more interesting, with the characters and story elements here being important moving forward. All of this is complimented by the special effects, reaching even greater heights than before.

A great film about film, being kid friendly while still being enjoyable for all ages. Almost if not entirely free of Crude and Adult Humor while telling a good story. This is how “Kids” movies should be done.

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny

Dial of Destiny lacks Spielberg as director and consequently, lacks his filmmaking magic. Despite this, Harrison Ford still reprises role well at age 80, which is absolutely respectable. Although anticlimactic, the callbacks and premise make Dial of Destiny a decent enough wrap-up to the franchise, over a decade later.

Although controversial, Kingdom of the Crystal Skull is my personal favorite Indiana Jones film, combining the historical and fantasy elements with science fiction. It was spielberg's last Indiana Jones film, and would’ve been a great enough end to this landmark franchise.

The Last Crusade returns to the classic adventure style & villians as Raiders of the Lost Ark, concluding the original trilogy well. It even calls back to Indy's younger years, which segways into the present day. A must watch.

Temple of Doom is less lighthearted, darker and more violent this time around, and the sense of adventure is lost a bit by it being mainly in one location. Despite this, it's still an Indiana Jones film at it's core with a happy ending despite what Indy had to go through.

A New Hope, originally known as Star Wars, started off the franchise and popularized the space opera genre, gaining every sci-fi fans' respect. The film is still worth watching today, and the story and action is built on much more in the later entries in the original trilogy and parts of the prequel trilogy.

The Phantom Menace is a nice start to the prequel trilogy. Although not quite as good as the original Star Wars, it's still a great introduction to the franchise. It being the first chronologically and it's young “protagonist” make it an especially great entry point for kids.
