The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom10
May 13, 2023
I have only just started playing the game, but I can say it is so much bigger than BOTW and brilliant and a ten out of ten. I will update my review once more into the game. I think it is the years of development and the attention to detail and listening to the fans of the game as to why Nintendo nail the Zelda releases.

Just started playing but is quite good. This is a great Zelda game. The kids love it too. It is pricy but the negative reviews aren’t being wholly fair. Definitely get it maybe wait until theprice has dropped..

It is a little buggy and will crash at the end of a level and seems to load twice once starting the game and on loading a saved game. If you save you should be fine 80% of the time. You die generally to misfortune, miscalculation or poor decisions. It isn’t everyone “cup of tea” and restarting from scratch can annoy some people. I actually like it a lot, it is graphically very beautiful, the coral wow, is fun sailing the sea and dodging sharks. It will will help maybe to have a slightly easier level for people who just want ship build and sail. A few more fixes on crashes, the losing of saves, maybe increasing the amount each item to 30 to reduce the bag changing, or add a option to tweak how rogue you want it to play. But I can see this turn into a franchise like Zelda.

It is actually not a bad game. It has struggled to be optimised on the Switch hardware which has let it down. But to the developers credit they have been regular patching and the games playability has improved now to the point it is playable. It still has some graphic problems, such as to much “fog” which is a shame, poor shadows and pop up/out of distant objects. But nothing like what was first reported when first released. The graphics have been dumbed down a lot so is no BOTW. The loading of the game now is short enough that it isn’t as frustrating to wait if you die and have to reload. It is slower to get into but once you are in the gameplay of trying to alliance yourself to different tribes does work. The crafting is good too. Once you have telescope and balloon thing start to make sense. The combat is tricky as the controls seem cumbersome at first and the enemies are a lot tougher to kill as they can recharge their health. Often I wait for one of the other tribes gathers to have a battle and pick the loot they lost. Plus you can practice on the bird and horse things. I wish the tribe symbols and names were recognisable I often can’t tell who’s who by name or symbol. The puzzles can sometimes be frustrating but there enough on the internet about the game if you get stuck to get you back on track. Actually I hope Nintendo pickup it up in the next Switch console and optimise it further as a game concept it is brilliant and would compliment the Zelda games. You have the elements of the RPG story but also the alliance and enemies you create to alter how it ends. So I think give it a go it isn’t half bad. If you can get past the graphics not being the best and just enjoy the gameplay you should enjoy. Maybe wait until cheaper on the store.

I have to say so glad I brought the Switch console and well Zelda BOTW is a killer game. I remember playing Zelda on Nintendo 64 and back then was one of my favourite games ever. They have done it again in my opinion. I am addicted and been playing all weekend. Hours of game play still to go. Really is sad that some users are putting negative reviews not because they played the game and like but because of a perceived bias from experts reviewers. Which I don't feel is true all game reviews have a element of bias. More sore **** because the hype was correct and probably the best game of the year. The game play is not for everyone. If you not into exploring games (adventure) then don't purchase the game and don't knock it if not your cup of tea. The original Zelda game was much the same as this one, although this one is better simple because so much bigger. The element I like most about this game is what will be around the next hill or river. Usually a new part of the story and yes there is a story and it is good one. The graphics are not on par with PS4 or Xbox, but Nintendo realised a losing battle to compete on specs. For me Nintendo has always been about game play and plenty of it. But graphics play smoothly and I don't notice any lag or problems with frame rates. The paraglider is fantastic way of moving around and avoiding monsters if don't want to fight. Can't wait for further Switch games with great game play. The music is good and not annoying. You can play it on the move (portable) although looks better on big screen. Looking forward to further Switch games.
