TL;DR Fun game, had its flaws but the multiplayer made it well worth the money. Renegade was ahead of its time, and was a bold move to try something new. Initially it was received with criticism by those who where worried this was an indication that EA was abandoning the Westwood RTS in favor for the growing popularity of shooter games. The game also was initially buggy and had an unpolished single player experience. However the multiplayer was widely praised and overshadowed many of the technical shortfalls. Renegade remains largely a unique type of game loved by many.
