I am usually reluctant to try new t.v. shows especially fictional ones, but Salem really blew it away. Its twist and turns I never see coming, it is a great mix of fiction and non-fiction, and my biggest tick, is that the male characters have depth. When they lose the love of their life, they are realistically heart broken. Most TV shows have ridiculous male characters but this one the characters have layers, and someone has really thought through people's emotions. Very surprisingly good!

Salem is replete with scenes that make little sense. It’s mostly a jumble of decent enough special effects, less-than-decent acting, a script that also should be lashed with “10 hard ones” and lots of blood-curdling screaming.

good effects and costumes. Strong witches that cause fear. Is it revolutionary and innovative? No, but it guarantees you excellent entertainment and goosebumps.
