The series has successfully grounded itself in real emotional stakes, and three seasons in, we genuinely care about these characters despite their frequent missteps and long for them to find the inner strength to continue fighting to survive this coldly-lit hellscape. It’s that balance that makes From not just a good show but a potential cult classic, one with enough charisma to keep us coming back for more.

Overall, it’s a smart, extremely watchable horror show that would likely become a big hit on a streaming giant but might get lost on Epix. Find your way to it.

While there is far more about From that works than doesn’t, it’s not clear by the midway point if it is building to much more than an impressively gory massacre or two.

Shrugging off the Lost comparisons for the most part, there is plenty of entertainment to be found in From – even if it occasionally feels more generic than some of its inspirations.

“From” maintains the audiences’ interest because of Harold Perrineau’s acting. He believes in the character and so does the audience. But like many of the shows it’s inspired/imitating, depending on your view, it spends too much time setting up its world and not pushing the story forward.

The basic idea of the show is great — in my opinion even more interesting than Lost, which has a similar vibe. The problem is, you have to wade through a lot of nonsense over three seasons to get to the gold. Some of the characters’ decisions are so unbelievably illogical and stupid that I often felt like quitting the whole thing. What’s also extremely annoying are the endless discussions between the characters — cringy, repetitive, and unrealistic to the point where it’s **** just when I was about to give up, the show suddenly drops a gold nugget that pulled me back in. Usually that happens when the plot actually moves forward and the producers finally throw us a hint about what the hell is going **** show does have some genuinely good ideas, but it wastes way too much time on boring drama that feels more like a soap opera. That said, it still kept me invested enough not to quit — I’m currently at season 3, episode 6, still hoping for more of those gold nuggets. At the same time, though, I can’t shake the feeling that watching this might just be a complete waste of time.

Season 1 was intriguing. From there it just gets more and more boring with each season. Only small bits of the mystery are revealed and the story gets stuck in side stories. Just learned about the "The Chris Carter Effect" which really matches "From" and probably "From" will have a brilliant end like "Lost", or even none at all. Uneducated guess: they are in a kind of hell.

Had a good start that really pulled me in but after the first few episodes it turned out to be a simple drama series with a horror setting. 90% of the repetitive dialogues are about feelings and personal problems which makes me question if i somehow stranded at a mysterious place where Desperate Housewives took over story-telling. I cant stop watching because of the idea of what it could have been and my interest in the ending, but i feel like thats as much of a challenge as the villagers have to face in Whatsoeverville.
