My Brother's Killer

What makes Mason’s doc stand out from other cold case flicks is how it goes beyond sensationalizing to explore something more sinister within the neon-lit world of ‘80s Los Angeles, which was filled with handsome boys like London looking to escape their pasts and find a better life.

My Brother’s Killer succeeds on the core level of providing an absorbing real-life mystery whose long-in-coming resolution adds new layers of strangeness and sorrow.

It is, however, refreshing to see a start-to-finish arc, a trait noticeably absent from many of its contemporaries, with the emotion firmly laid upon the sleeve of each interviewee as fresh as if Billy’s death just happened.
