Level 16

At its least, Level 16 ranks as a very good episode of Black Mirror but at its best, it succeeds as a hybrid of the kind of dystopic paranoia we get from Margaret Atwood’s Handmaid’s Tale with touches of sanitized malevolence from Stanley Kubrick.

Level 16 is a mystery horror that gets darker as it unravels.

The look of the film is sterile and monochromatic, as is the acting and the mood. And while fans of the genre will absolutely appreciate the surreal gloom, for most others Level 16 will come in at a level below an average "Twilight Zone" episode.

Initial hints of a "Mean Girls"-meets-"Lord of the Flies" complication don't come to much in this straightforward pic, which will be zeitgeisty enough for some viewers while leaving most wanting something a bit more imaginative.

As it sputters toward its curtain-exposing conclusion, “Level 16” stays disappointingly thin, both as a dark-future cautionary saga and a genre exercise.

it's a slow film but well made, good acting, and story. the ending could have been many ways, so keeps you interested. shows you what you can achieve with a small budget. good film.

There are some good moments, but a few problems with the writing. The transition between some scenes is awkward and there is overall a lack of suspense. The original idea is good but, as a spectator, I was lacking the element of "surprise" about what was to come next. Some clichés such as the guards who are Russians (oh! the bad, nasty Russians). Most actors are good, just their lines sometimes sound phony. Overall, a pleasant movie but with an aftertaste of amateurism by some aspects, especially in the script.

I was surprised to find several good reviews of this film because I was so damn bored with its monotony and lack of suspense.

Rather uninspired and boring low-budget movie. Reasonably well made though the amateurism shows, just not surprising, intelligent or even interesting. Probably better than your average film-student project but not something you'd want to pay for to go see.
