11 A.M.

A Rich Sci-Fi Premise Let Down by Weak Narrative Unraveling.131222 (2.0)The premise is compelling and rich, but the way it is unraveled is somewhat disappointing. Directed by Kim Hyun-seok and starring Jung Jae-young, Kim Ok-vin, and Daniel Choi, the 2013 South Korean sci-fi thriller "11 A.M." centers on deep-sea researchers who successfully build a time machine capable of making a 24-hour leap into the future. When the lead scientist travels ahead to 11 A.M. the next day, he discovers the facility in complete ruins and his colleagues mysteriously murdered, launching a frantic race against time to alter destiny using only fragmented surveillance camera footage. Despite its high-concept time-travel setup and tense ticking-clock structure, the narrative falters in its progression, struggling to sustain consistent suspense and emotional weight through its unraveling.
