XType Plus
XType Plus is the essence of the Wii U eShop's potential for quick, cheap and accessible games, wrapped up in a tightly controlled and satisfying game with endless potential for replayability.
Xtype Plus would benefit from more solutions, options and game modes.
Xtype Plus is a bullet hell shooter in the true sense of the word. A hell of spaceships and shots, addictive and tough, just like old school shooters are expected to be.

Pretty intense shooter for such a simple game. I appreciated it more on a big screen, which seemed to make the bullet-hell maneuvering more precise. Difficulty spikes hard after the first 10 levels or so, as if it was designed primarily for short mobile sessions. Can get quickly frustrating, and hard to tell if you'd get better at it, or whether success is rather random.

A kind of crimsonland-wannabe game (but this time in open space). Gameplay is high-speed, the enemy is tougher with every new level. But there are no power-ups at all, so replays become a bit boring.

X-Type+ is a wonderfully simple idea tweaked and tuned into a damn fine little game, with an underlying depth and replay value that will keep seasoned shooter aficionados coming back for more. It also serves as a nice entry-level bullet hell affair before you start investigating the more exotic wares further afield.

Bueno, bonito, barato.

It'll scratch the shoot 'em up itch for fans of the genre with a no-frills approach that concentrates on core game mechanics over bells and whistles, and for newbies, XType Plus is more inviting than many other shmup titles.

The game plays perfectly fine, but it just shouldn't have been made this way.

SummaryPure 2D blasting is what retro shooter, XType Plus, has in its gun sights, as it docks for download exclusively in Nintendo eShop on Wii U. Youll need a sturdy trigger finger to survive this vertical blaster, as you pilot an insignificant vessel against an infinite series of randomly-generated bosses, each more difficult than the last...
