WWE 2K22

Boasting a polished presentation, enjoyable gameplay that more closely resembles modern pro wrestling and two brilliantly executed modes in Showcase and MyRISE, WWE 2K22 is genuinely delightful and a defining chapter in its franchise’s legacy.

Efforts were made to keep 2020 as a road accident, and this time they came up with a game like it should have. With plenty of game mode and plenty of content, a fun WWE experience awaits you.

A simplified gameplay loop, a thrilling Showcase mode, and a surprisingly deep MyRise mode combine to make WWE 2K22 one of the strongest entries the franchise has seen in a while.

While WWE 2K22 does suffer from content bloat, it’s a vast improvement on WWE 2K20, and one of the best games of the entire WWE 2K series. With a number of smart fixes, streamlined action gameplay, and a handful of engaging, well-designed modes, it has successfully shed the franchise’s bad reputation. A year off has certainly done the series good, and helped 2K Games and Visual Concepts rethink what makes wrestling so fun. WWE 2K22 is a game changer, and one that certainly does ‘hit different’.

If it hasn't drastically changed its gameplay, WWE 2K22 is almost a reboot in its visual rendering and with the incorporation of the My MG mode. The latter is a good surprise, leads us to manage a stable of stars and a schedule of shows without being too complex, a successful bet. Technically, the latest generation of consoles holds its own and avoids the pitfall of WWE 2K20's many bugs, even if some loading times are long. In short, if this last opus could have been deeper in terms of staging, it delights in its lifespan thanks to an XXL roster, realistic in the animations without being polluted by the less vital virtual currency than in NBA 2K. A spectacular and versatile title, like the cover star Rey Mysterio.

Despite a few problems with the game's responsiveness when in the ring with multiple people, and a couple of lacklustre modes, there's plenty in WWE 2K22 to keep you very happy indeed, especially if you've played wrestling games before. The real pleasure with WWE 2K22 is in the hilarious community creations and chaotic action in the ring with friends. Download someone's crude rendition of Queen Elizabeth II, jump into an Extreme Rules match, and take them down from the top turnbuckle. At its best, it's an absolute joy.

WWE 2K22 is 2K Sports’ first mainline WWE game since 2019. Following the abysmal reception to 2K20 that year, 2K took an extra year to make sure bugs were squashed and character models looked the part while preserving the fun factor. The team behind the latest release has addressed most of these issues this time around, and while 2K22 is significantly better than its predecessor, the bar was absurdly low. The extra year has certainly helped, but ultimately, the final product still feels undercooked.

A huge step-up in graphics and a sort-of improvement from previous titles but nothing really too major that makes you really completely fall in love with the game.

Good graphics good gameplay but the only problem i have is gm mode i thought it was going to be good but after playing it for 2 hours i got bored very quickly

Create a wrestler has some good move customisation and decent enough visual customisation, the career mode is alright and the Rey Mysterio campaign is passable. The MyFaction is a really REALLY mixed bag with a lot of the daily challenges mislabelled or bugged and with certain match types being very poorly tested (such as 6 man tornado tag) as the AI will just focus on one wrestler completely, sometimes deliberately losing the match by refusing to break up pins. Due to the match actions and being unable to control both of your wrestlers this often means your teammate loses the match for you by pinning an AI while you are chain stunned/countered by the other 3 causing you to win the match but fail the objectives with no player agency which is idiotic, just allow the player to switch wrestlers or remove this half baked game mode. The constant issues with animations locking, snapping, collisions missing/not connecting, random I-frames, being interrupted out of your own moves by yourself, the referee or collisions with environmental objects and the AI just being all over the place really mar what would otherwise be a really enjoyable game.

The game is still broken. I've had to restart the game multiple times due to it freezing, there have been multiple crashes for me, hit detection is horrible, reversals are horrible if it even gives you a chance to reverse. If you try to use a weapon, it's such a task to even pick the weapon up, When you try to hit your opponent with it, the animation is extremely slow, they'll reverse it. Since you guys got the new deal, the next game better be fixed. There is no reason for this game to be this bad after 2.5 years of development.
