Until Maxis lets us create our own material possessions with the click of the mouse, this is the closest you'll get.

A nice, though hardly necessary, expansion to one of the most innovative games yet to come down the pike, and a must-have for any true Sim fanatic.

The new characters and the new soap opera situations all make for a lot of fun in the same fascinating world.

Remember this very well when it came our loved the robot that does everything for you and the genie who sometimes grants your wishes.

The Sims: Livin' Large is a great first expansion to The Sims, and I can't think that I could ever play The Sims 1 without it. The expansion feels a lot like Maxis testing the water, and most of the content are flashy Las Vegas, and medieval decorations and furniture, but it definitely is not a stuff pack. The biggest reason to buy this expansion is probably the fact that it adds a second Sim Lane, with some pre-made houses and the surprisingly memorable Mashuga family. The game also adds six blank worlds for you to populate with your own creations. The game really lives up to it's title; everything is about Livin' Large! You have slot machines, garish, tasteless house decorations, golden statues in underpants, crystal balls, and even a creepy Tragic Clown that won't leave you alone. This expansion is a blatantly absurd, and entertaining addition to the already great original Sims.

A great buy for Sims junkies; and if you missed the first one, go out and buy both. [Nov 2000, p.137]

If you're a fan of "The Sims" and you don't have a copy of Livin' Large yet, you need to drop everything and go get it now.

The new situations and scenarios brought about by the new additions are truly enjoyable, and are easily sufficient to cause former Sims addicts to suffer another relapse.

If you ever thought that Bob Newbie was just a little bit boring, look out, because he just changed into his buttless chaps and he's headed for your hot tub.

In the end, The Sims does mimic real life: if you aren't happy, new stuff is only a fleeting solution.
