If you love the early Command and Conquer and Red Alert games, you're going to vibe with this big time. Really really well done RTS and the music soundtrack is insane. Frank still knows how to make a video game soundtrack.
Tempest Rising absolutely scratched my classic RTS itch. The campaign nails that C&C vibe, snappy base-building, punchy unit feedback, and mission variety that keeps the pace exciting without getting grindy. The solo storyline is solid and carried by great moment-to-moment combat and a nostalgic soundtrack. My only real wish: proper cinematic cutscenes à la Westwood Studios to elevate the narrative beats. Even without them, this feels like a love letter to the golden era of RTS. If you grew up on Command & Conquer, this is the modern fix you’ve been waiting for.
Wow! It feels like RTS from my childhood. Great game currently i'm in the middle of the GDF campaign and when i finish i will play second side. At least for now im very satisfied :)
An example of a franchise that I've been following since 2004 or 2005 is Total War. The difference in the series is that the game is divided into two parts: the battle part, which is in real time (RTS), and the strategic part, which takes place on the campaign map, where we plan our actions. Of course, they are different games, with different budgets and opposing views, but I'm just mentioning this as an example of something that catches my attention in this style of game.I'm not saying that Tempest Rising is bad. I just think that, in order to gain a larger player base, it could do something different, like adding more factions, allowing negotiations to import exclusive units, and so **** game's reception has been very positive, the reviews are favorable, and, for a game of this size, I believe the number of players is within expectations. I'm looking forward to the studio's next title, because I really like this style of game and I'm happy when something new is released. What caught my attention in Tempest Rising is the fact that it reminded me a lot of Command & Conquer, so I decided to give it a chance!Recommended for RTS lovers and those who want to go back to the golden age of this genre, back in the 90s, it's an extremely simple game, but very fun if you play it with your friends. patobah com br
This 2025 multiplayer game was release half completed and without a party system so you can't even play with friends in matchmaking. Botched launch and the devs/publisher tried to cover by changing
artwork on steam page.
Suspect as hell EULA.
missing 3rd faction.
missing replays.
missing multiplayer functionality.
Tons of bugs.
The game is beyond praise. The developers are great. Keep it up. Finally, someone has released a decent, normal RTS strategy. And not every garbage that is littered with steam
It took them 26 years to take a huge step back from "Tiberian Sun". Units do not shoot while moving there are no hovering mechanics it's a 2025 game and they can't do the simplest thing how on earth is this possible?. Having to micromanage the abilities of every unit in real time dumbest idea from this developer. Pathfinding is way worse than old games and units sometimes stuck in map objects. Turrets are weak for defending your base they need to shoot more than 5 times just to destroy a helicopter. A helicopter has almost the same armor with a tank in this game LMAO this is ridiculous!! There are no civilian pedestrians all city maps feel empty and no partial unit destruction at all. Some features i listed above were done in 1999 and done on Pentium 166 MHz and in this new game they are missing. I completed the Dynasty campaign did not like it the story was very stupid and the whole explanation for everything happening in the Tempest universe was childish and i am not a child sorry. Also enemy units always spawn from the edge of the map this is the cheapest way to make the game feel "competitive". Command and Conquer Tiberium Sun is a far better game.
Honestly I’m baffled by how Command & Conquer 3: Kane's Wrath a 17 year old game is better in EVERY category to this new $40 game and i don't understand the perfect scores from some reviewers and unknown individuals have they even played a classic RTS in their life? The game isn't fun or satisfying. Micromanaging unit abilities in a Real time strategy are you kidding me? Unit sounds are bad quality and most of them annoying. Maps and graphics all look foggy and blurry. No building garrison apart from few and building system is unorganized and foolishly designed. Navigation system is cooked as well (no right click hold to navigate quickly) and no reverse button (another bad macro management). it's simply a worse version of older games by pretty much every metric. Readability is bad. Less control of your units no reverse moves, infantry that can't enter buildings and other negative things i noticed that older games have done a lot better. Not even close to how much epic Red Alert 2 and its expansion was.
An old-school RTS, easy to play for everyone, but where good micromanagement makes all the difference. Fluid, with intuitive controls and ability branch customization during online/skirmish matches, focused on controlling resource areas where the use of defensive and strategic capabilities is prioritized over hit-and-run tactics. It could even go much further if the developers make the right decisions. Those expecting a C&C clone may be disappointed, this game takes its own direction and that's how it should be.
Uninspiring and ridiculous RTS made with Unreal Engine 5 a total let down so far. Overrated by the "modern audience" and immature GenZ gamers. Most old school RTS fans that i asked say the game is MEH and recommend me to try to play something else to pass my time. Where to start unit compositions are weak, anyone who expects something even close to a balanced, stone-paper-scissor mechanism fraction setup will be disappointed. All units in their foundation work similar from my experience they added some abilities to units but all abilities require micromanagement this is a Real time strategy game and not turn based having to micromanage your abilities in real time and without a pause button is an atrocious experience. C&C has never been on a StarCraft level of unit variability, but this is so poor even compared to any past C&C titles. And please forget the campaign all mission scenarios and the story is written for teenagers do not expect any meaningful mature experience here. Game is like eating at McDonalds and the experience feels soulless to me. This looks to me as if was made by Chatbot AI that someone instructed by saying: "Hey Chatbot try to make me a 2025 Command and Conquer clone, but make it interchangeable add way more science fiction mumbo-jumbo and please do NOT add tactics in the gameplay" Very disappointing.
this is not Red Alert not even in the slightest. This is one of the dumbest RTS i have ever played in my life all units are kids toys. The UI is a mess; ratios for abilities and seeing what units are selected don't match the rest of what's being displayed and reading the abilities is a headache. There's no range indicators for base defenses (at least while building them at a minimum, maybe there is while selecting them but i'm not entirely sure) not sure what the devs of this game were thinking with every units having abilities by the dozen either; sometimes less micro is more. The game can't seem to decide if it wants to be the pre- Tib 3 & RA3 the game seems to have a serious identity crisis by trying to cram everything possible into it. Building garrisons are useless with the upgrade that enables units to deal damage to units inside the structure. Watching 6 basic anti-tank units get slaughtered by 3 basic vehicles while garrisoned is *not* a C&C experience, i don't understand the decision making here. The whole point of infantry in a C&C game is that it's supposed to be cost effective when fighting from cover. The repair bays are an outdated mechanic from the late 90s. I don't want to be asked to build half a dozen bays and then manually tell vehicles to repair themselves after a fight like. It's one thing to ask someone to micro, but this is absurd. In no universe should we be going back to 90's mechanics that we scrapped and require more micro/macro than playing already APM intensive games like AOE 2, AOE 4, WC3, or SC2 to name a **** for MCVs they're the worst offenders. The build radius is absolutely *horrible*, they're slow, for some reason packing and unpacking has a cooldown that's much too long, they require tech to build (Seriously, what the hell is this? Just make it default from the vehicle factory!). (I actually edited this part because upon reloading the game queing multiple buildings of the same type worked, it didn't initially don't ask why.)The eco is an absolute MESS. Resources run out on each node *far* too quickly, and it doesn't seem like there's any justification for having more than one harvester per node. The base storage of 6000 without silos is also absurdly low, if i can keep a factory, 2 mcvs, a barracks, and an airfield all pumping off of 5 nodes and *still* need to be spamming silos just to keep up then there's a serious problem here. Just do away with the storage limit altogether; pick an identity, is this supposed to be a slower RTS or a faster one? I can crank out 5 factories and keep them going if that's what the devs choose, but don't expect me to make 30 silos in the process while trying to tech and do everything else. This game is a hot mess, I get the devs want it to be something of C&C but they've crammed all the worst aspects of C&C games into one and created this abomination.
Once again, we get these clunky, plastic-like models that look like Playmobil or Lego in a post-apocalyptic 1997 were soldiers use space helmets and not even one of them can't enter buildings to protect themselves they just sit in an open field and waiting to die. Everything is so uninspired and bland this is like being part of a B-movie made for little kids. Most of units in this game are not even useful and the weirdest thing you have even to micromanage in real time if you want to use most of their boring abilities. When it comes to gameplay, I miss the days when I could build bunker bases and hold my ground there was tactical depth—you could break through enemy defenses using tunnels or take out key structures with special weapons. Today? The moment you start building, you’re immediately overwhelmed by brainless waves of enemy units that spam from the corner of them map and try to attack your base just to get slaughtered funny thing in this game all your defense structures are so weak that feel pointless. There’s no real strategy anymore just mindless unit spamming and attacking. If Tempest Rising featured more realistic tank models and a more thoughtful tactical system and a smarter AI i would recommend. Unfortunately this is another Playmobil-style strategy game with childish units and weird unrealistic ideas. No, thanks. I was briefly hyped, but after playing few missions that excitement is long gone. A disappointing C&C rip-off made for the modern masses.
Units feel bland. Story is really dumb and super cheesy welcome to 1997 where they have drones (LOL what!) and Space Marines (every soldier in the game looks like a version of a Space Marine) this is dumb and cheap sci-fi and not even something original. If you can't make a decent story and create a decent lore for your game try to hire a pro writer next time to do this for you since you want to add an impactful story campaign. Now as about gameplay active abilities require far too much micro-management for a real time RTS. The "intel" and other similar game mechanics are gimmiky and most of then not really that useful. Sound effects don't feel impactful and you will hear way too many repetitive sounds. Troops can't enter buildings. Multiple units serve very little purpose and some are disappointing weak. You will quickly lose interest THIS IS NOT RED ALERT i am sorry. Wait for modders to overhaul the game and make it better
refacing this with that I have only played GDF campaign on insane (Yes it took me many many hours and tries to get this on insane. I'm not the most adept player). No skirmish or Multiplayer yet but that said. Just the GDF campaign alone I really am I'm love with this game. Totally worth the money and it's current. There's so much nostalgia but modernisation as well. I feel like you got the balance down great.I'm really impressed at how finished this game feels. It does not feel forced released at all like pretty much every other game these days. I literally came across 1 bug across the 30 hours of playing it and that bug was insanely minor and didn't affect me at all.
Veti is such a cool faction! it's designed really well! Can't wait to try Dynasty...
Great RTS with great features and game mechanics. In comparison with other RTS sending waves of marines is not enough to win the game. But still some units are OP. Patches will fix it. In DLC or TR2 better presentation of antagonists is needed.
Boy I'm having a blast with tempest rising. Can't wait to see how this game develops. Hope they add more factions, units, structures and expand the storyline. But really these developers have done a great job with this game and deserve all the support they can get, I want to see much more from them. I hope many people buy this game. This is an RTS gem like they used to make them in the old days, but modernised with beautiful graphics and enhancements.
Command and Conquer Red Alert remastered. This is easily one the better RTS games to be released in years. For a great price, you get good graphics, an entertaining story, and some modern upgrades for the genre, that add a lot of depth. If you enjoyed StarCraft and the old Command and Conquer games of late nineties, you will love this game. Even the music is really good and was impressive for the genre.
This game is JUST the itch I've been wanting to scratch for a long time. The last strategy game I had this much fun with was Starcraft. While it's a game changer like Starcraft, it builds on all the Command and Conquer things that made it fun and I'm having a blast. The animation is sleek, the operation simple but with interesting options. Recommend this to anyone who misses the old strategy games of the '90s.
