ReSetna is an ambitious metroidvania that starts off slow but becomes a joy to play after the first hour. With clearer exploration hints and more responsive combat feedback, it could be even better. While the game is receiving frequent updates to fix bugs and refine some questionable design choices, I can’t help but feel it would have benefited from an Early Access release—allowing it to grow its audience over time.

I hope this doesn’t read too negatively, but the build I played had all the makings of a great game but was held back by small technical issues here and there that just kept piling up. If you’re intro Metroidvanias with tight combat, there is a lot to love here but unless you can forgive some jank, I recommend at least waiting for a couple more patches before you dive into this one.

ReSetna is drenched in a unique kind of post-apocalyptic melancholy. Its greatest strength clearly lies in atmosphere, blending cyberpunk decay with cryptic, soulslike storytelling. Exploration is competent, if conventional, while combat demands precision, timing, and discipline. Beneath it all, however, problems emerge. Inputs falter, hit detection feels unreliable, and many battles become tedious wars of attrition rather than tests of skill. Despite patches and admirable ambition, ReSetna never quite transcends its technical shortcomings, leaving behind the frustration of unrealised potential.

ReSetna presents an interesting proposal with its dynamic combat, exploration in a science fiction world and mechanics inspired by metroidvania, but its quality ends up being hampered by technical flaws that compromise the gaming experience.

Resetna is a great sci-fi metroidvania and I enjoyed playing it. Having 3 different weapons made the combat interesting for me, bosses were made pretty challenging, but I loved them. At first I missed leveling, but chips make up for it (Tetris-like upgrade system with upgrading, similar to how charms work in HK). Enemy variety is well-balanced, with satisfying forced battles. Platforming starts simple but ramps up later, rewarding exploration with materials, lore and upgrades. For platforming enjoyers, by the end of the game there are a couple of sections which definitely scratched that part of my brain that was missing it. The difficulty feels fair—challenging but never unfair. Resetna isn’t groundbreaking and doesn't offer much innovations to the genre, but that's not a bad thing, it’s a fun, well-crafted entry in the genre. Worth playing!
