Quirky games like this work only when there's a huge amount of truly inspired imagination behind them. Here, there isn't. [July 2007, p.97]

If zSlide wants to directly compete with WarioWare’s creativity, not toying with the PSP’s optional camera or microphone has been a missed opportunity. [July 2007, p.94]

It's a game that's just not clever enough by half. Modelled, shamelessly on a game that's too clever by miles. So it's not necessarily bad. It's just not good enough.

Interesting concept, poorly executed. I remember it because of its distinctive visual style. And thats all. Mediocre.

Game about mini games with really only few that are actually good... Most of them are identical with only little differences. At first game looks funny but it quickly turns to cringe and very forcing humor. It's very poorly ripped off wario ware clone... The best part of that game is that it's very short and you can beat it in one sitting and hopefully forget about it. It is even outrageous to mention but sometimes you can feel the drops in fps... In such game It's just ridiculous.

Multiplayer mode is a welcome addition, and despite how unfriendly the PSP can be sometimes, it’s a great quickie on a bus ride. Hot Pixel is not something you’ll play forever and ever, but it’s a nifty fad.

If you’re a PSP owner without a GBA or DS, you need to face the facts – you’re just depriving yourself a lot of fun by not owning one of Nintendo’s handhelds. Take the money you were going to spend on this game and put it towards one of those systems and a copy of Wario Ware.

Hot Pixel does what it set out to do, clone Wario Ware without actually becoming Wario Ware, and it surprisingly succeeds, even if it's just a modest victory.

The rapid succession of games may be suited for handheld play, but they lack the variety to remain compelling. [Aug 2007, p.78]

Wherever the line is between very simple and very simple but addictive, Hot Pixels doesn't cross it in most cases.
