You'll laugh, you'll die, you'll hurl yourself back into this satanic enterprise again and again. [Issue#268, p.70]

High Hell's refreshing honesty and unfamiliar naivete have kept me entertained for at least a few hours...A minimalist, very entertaining and action-packed low budget shooter with the right dose of chaos, humor and madness.

This game would be amazing, if it wasn't for how short it is and the awful Beelzebot battle, which does not rely on skill, but pure luck and it's frustrating. Other levels were good, but man that boss killed all fun from the game. Still it's a nice game, if you'll get it for free. Pickens approves!

If Quake and Hotline Miami they would have a child, it would be like High Hell. Hilarous, frenetical and perfect for fast and short game sessions. It's not perfect, but it's a tiny divertimento.

High Hell is ample demonstration that good and simple game play still has a place in world of multi-gigabyte monsters with eight-figure (or higher) development and marketing budgets. It's perfect for those situations when you just want to sit down and shoot things for a few minutes without having to deal with even an iota of realism. After all, they're called "games" for a reason.

High Hell is, above all else, a confident game. There isn't anything standing in the way of blasting baddies off rooftops and crashing breakneck through every door in sight, all in acid-soaked neon pink style.

While its longevity may be tied into just how willing players are to shoot for the highest score and go after as many achievements as possible, High Hell is a wicked little shooter that you won’t soon be forgetting. Its eye-popping visual style will draw you in, but the rapid, skill-testing and just plain fun gameplay is what will hook you. Whether you blaze through things as if you were powered by inferno-style hot sauce or take your time to poke around every corner to find new areas full of demonic oddities to ogle, there’s still a lot here for you to enjoy, so make sure to give this sinful delight a shot.

High Hell is a great game to play in short bursts. It’s quirky, fast paced, and plays well aside from a few oversights.

It’s hard for me to view High Hell as anything more than an awkward experiment. [01/2018, p.54]

A fun, madly fast game. It's a mix between Jazzpunk and Doom 4 (sped up 3x). I can see this being a perfect game for speedruns. It would be slightly better if it would be polished - there are relatively frequent clipping problems, and Beelzebot's difficulty is a sudden spike (it could be made clear how to beat it, and it would still be challenging). The game also suffers from mild stuttering.

Fun, short (~2 hours), fast paced FPS with nice, but simple cel shaded graphics. Missions are in short, bite sized chunks which make it enjoyable and compels you to keep trying/playing. Except for the final 2 missions (20&21) where the difficultly ramps up considerably and luck plays a large part (mission 20). Well worth the sale price of £2.
