Evil Dead (2011)

An enjoyable romp for Evil Dead fans.

For a goofy little action game Evil Dead isn't terrible. The juxtaposition of the art style and the gore (which you have to wipe off the screen with your finger) is fun, though once you're done with story mode, there's not much else to do. Some additional game modes might go a long way in making this a more rounded-out experience.

The best way to describe Evil Dead is "almost, but not quite." It's cute and cheeky and so over-the-top that it's got a lot of charm going for it. Unfortunately, the gameplay needs to be tweaked a bit before it'll be really good. Still, it's entertaining in a mindless sort of way, and as a fan of the series, you could do definitely do worse.

It would be great to say this is the Evil Dead game people have been waiting for, but despite its source material and simple concept it fails to excite.

One for fans of the film only as charismatic visuals are not enough to mask problematic controls and monotonous gameplay.

Evil Dead uses tired gameplay and spotty controls to tell the story of the cult classic movie.

The classic cult movie is turned into an incredibly bad dual stick shooter with barren enviroments, boring action and horrible sound. Even though it sticks to the story, it is bad enough to hurt your opinion of the movie it's based on.
