I had my doubts going into Dicey Dungeons, despite the pedigree present. I was worried the core reliance on random dice rolls would create a frustrating experience for the player. And while I've had those moments, I always felt that I could look back and say "that's where I went wrong" and not "the random numbers just didn't work out in my favor!" That alone is an incredibly feat. Stack it on top of six incredibly unique character mechanics, episodes that force the exploration of alternate playstyles, and an expertly crafted aesthetic, and you have another absolute slam dunk from Terry Cavanagh.

Dicey Dungeons is a charming, fast and cheerful roguelike that has more to offer than you might think at first. No two runs are alike. Dicey Dungeons also respects your time. In just under half an hour you dice your way to the end.

I always love an even game. This is the strongest point here. The gameplay and mechanics are intuitive enough, but I love the balancement work: eveything you can do, the opponents can, and everything the opponenst can do, you can. And still it is balanced!
You should not expect a major emotional lore here, the game is intended to be funny, but still i got caught up in what it wanted to narrate me.

If you love building decks, strategizing five moves ahead, and combating randomness, Dicey Dungeons is the game for you. If not, you still might want to consider giving it a try for the cute, game show aesthetic and chiptune soundtrack alone. And who knows, you might be surprised how much you enjoy the deck building.

Under its goofy premise, Terry Cavanagh's new production is a very well designed title. Really strategic and offering a huge display of combinations, Dicey Dungeons can also be a little frustrating as we can win or lose on a roll of a dice.

Dicey Dungeons is a brilliant rouge-like deck-building game full of humour, hard-as-nails gameplay and plenty of replayability. The six playable characters are so different from one another that players are sure to find one that fits how they wish to play the game. Whether you want to be an aggressive warrior or a sneaky thief, there’s something for everyone.

If the game’s adventures were longer and more purposefully designed, they could be far more appealing. As it stands, Dicey Dungeons exists for players interested in its idiosyncrasies and punishing challenges.

The charming dungeon crawler builds itself around the chaos of dice. Choose one of six characters, each with their own unique skills and way utilize your rolls of the six-sided die. Combat is rather fun, the artwork feels like a pop-up book, and the electronic soundtrack will have you tapping your foot. Despite the characters and additional modes though, it doesn't feel like Dicey Dungeons expands upon its early hours of play enough. Still, it's an enjoyable roguelite dungeon crawler.

I’ve been playing dicey dungeons the past few days and while i see how people can have fun with it the game constantly screws you on purpose giving you dice and your enemies great rolls consistently (yeah I know it’s rigged) still makes it not fun. The characters abilities while different aren’t unique nearly enough to keep me engaged for long play Periods leading me to only do 1-3 runs at a time depending on how deep I go. There’s not a lot of cards to find and the art style/ enemies come off as cheap rather than artistic choice shining through. For its normal price that’s a lot for a game with little depth, no real Story or engaging features to keep you coming back and the episodes are frankly mundane at best and show why this game isn’t worth sinking so many hours into at worst. It’s not horrible but it’s certainly ain’t good either.
