All because of the mission "Fire & Ice". You're probably wondering "Is it really fair to rate the whole update 1/10 stars over 1 mission?" To which I ask; Was it fair for me to waste over 3 hours of my life on 1 mission, half of which on jump challenges and the other half on a broken boss battle?! First off, the glitches. Before I even got to this mission the game froze in the middle of missions or would just stop working, causing me to have to repeat these missions from the beginning all over again. Second off, "Fire and Ice A: The Jump Challenges". Bungie, whoever lied to you and told you "The Players REALLY love jump challenges in our FPS Looter Shooter!" Needs to be fired or made to feel pain like the rest of us do. Not 1 time while I was playing Destiny 1 or 2 did I think to myself "Yeah, shooting aliens and getting gear is cool but what I really came here to do is stand ever so slightly on an edge and make it to another tip of a mountain before falling to my death". It pauses the action, feels needlessly tedious, and shouldn't be in the middle of the story. Lastly-- the inspiration to make this post-- "Fire and Ice B: THE DISCIPLE OF HARROW". I'm convinced Bungie didn't have any solo players test this or at least give them feedback because once the boss hits a Quarter Health comes thee most frustrating, jaw droppingly abysmal fight in the franchise. The Disciple of Harrow doesn't reload, doesn't run out of ammo, just an endless stream of mini gun bullets that even rain on you before you leave spawn. On top of that, you have to brace this barrage of bullets while going on disappearing platforms to activate crystals to summon Centurions that can drop Orbs that take away his shields-- only the Devs didn't think this boss battle was enough so they made it so you have to; Activate the Crystal, Kill 1 of the 2 Taken/Barant Centurions that spawn, leave the other alive as you get the 2nd Ceystal that spawns on the other side, and kill 1 of the 2 Barant/Taken Centurions who spawned, AND DURING ALL OF THIS THE DISCIPLE OF HARROW IS SPRAYING YOU DOWN WITH BULLETS THAT CAN LITERALLY PUSH YOU OFF THESE DISAPPEARING PLATFORMS. Oh and God forbid you die during that process of Activating Crystals and killing Centurions because if you do die, the charge from the Centurion disappears and you have to do it all over again. It was tedious, asinine, and felt more like artificially making things more difficult than actually giving us a challenge. Bungie, if you're reading this; fix this boss fight, and keep in mind that a challenge isn't a matter of how we use our time, but how we use our minds.
Renegades is the expansion that I lost all hope for Destiny to make a comeback and for Bungie to redeem themselves. The legendary campaign felt more like a legendary strike back when there was three more tiers above legendary. This is just such a disappointment from a franchise I loved. This “expansion” came with less content than the seasons use to come with. It’s just more low-effort slop as Edge of Fate was and a continuation of the downfall since TWQ. I can’t watch it slowly die like this anymore. I’m out.
