Multiplications are truly addictive, which is what makes Balatro original. Overall it shines through its simplicity. The art style and music combine perfectly and are hypnotic, warm and retro.

I can't describe why, but this is one of the best games I've ever played. Seriously. There is no way I can describe why Balatro is such an amazing game. You just have to experience it yourself. Balatro is in my top 10 favorite games ever. (By the way, my all time highscore is 1.391e47. So beat that!)

As someone who can hardly do math and has never played cards I was skeptical. After playing many many hours I can say with confidence that this is one of the best games I've played. Fresh and exciting and just frustrating enough (in a good way) that I keep coming back to it.

Balatro has become my addiction for about year and a half more or less. What can I even say about it, not only is it the most visually pleasing and tactile feeling games (despite being arcade ish and pixel art), its gameplay loop is by definition addiction.

Overall quite addictive, but I can't see how it got nominated for GOT. It has it's flaws, some blind bosses are insanely easy, while some are a bit over the top, the needle for example feels a bit much for most builds.

After 4 hours of playing Balatro, i think I've shaped up a reasonable opinion;Yes, i could see why this game took the world by storm. It's incredibly intuitive in user interface design and combat mechanics. The soundtrack is cool, the visuals are okay, and the gameplay in general is addicting. But for me, that's when it ends.I absolutely have a certain bias against this game and I'll admit that. When i see reviews on Steam and Metacritic, i feel like people are praising this game just for the sake of it. They're mentioning these, very VERY basic structures and spices for any Rogue-like game entry. "No two Balatro match is truly the same", "The game's deep mechanics deserves so much love", as if those two things aren't always THE standard of a rogue-like game???Maybe my bias is; I'm a very seasoned Rogue-like player. Hades, Inscryption, Slay the Spire, Risk of Rain 2, Dead Cells etc. all of these games shaped up my expectation of a rogue-like entry. While I'm not taking away the fun that people are having with Balatro (I'm absolutely having fun with the game too!), i feel like these things that people give Balatro so much credit for, aren't anything but the genre's standard for me.This game is amazing, i won't deny that. It's a great value for anyone into the rogue-like genre, but i feel like the praises this game gets are a little overblown. Compared to Slay the Spire, and Inscryption, this game stands tall as a deck builer rogue-like with a fun & charming poker game aesthetic. Presentation-wise, Balatro isn't the most interesting thing out there, not even in my gaming library. However, an amazing game is an amazing game. I won't try to deny that. 9/10.

This game is super addicting. My biggest pro with this game is that it doesn’t have any action at all, yet it keeps you focused all the time. The soundtrack and gameplay loop is addictive and you will surely spend a lot of hours in this game.

This game is ENDLESS! You can play it for hours without realizing how fast time flew while playing! The game is so much fun, it the perfect game to play to chill a bit or to have a break. The game is also pretty challenging and you have to focus and play with the same deck over and over to win the highest difficulties. Highly raccomended.

Very addictive for a while, it becomes a pick up and put down game about 40-50 hours in, but its still a really good time killer all things considered. It's not something to scoff at when looking at rougelikes, and i can see why it was nominated for GOTY. Its a great game.

Best Gambling/ non gambling game ever!It's five hand poker but is just you trying to get the highest hands to get points and they have lots of fun things to hook you, Jokers which do lots of different things like multiply points and planet cards which improve your certain hand types. Is very addictive

I've seen enough in my short time playing to know why so many people like this game and am glad the game blew up the way it did. Hope the developer is able to continue to add new cards and gimmicks and doesn't add in any feature that may otherwise show you what your score will be as not knowing is half the fun. Very fun and well put together game can recommend to anyone looking for a good pick me up game you don't have to think to much **** sure when ill ever put this much time into a game in such a short period ever again
