Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine II3

No support for Ultra-Wide monitors on launch, and still a week after is a fail. The game play is very repetitive as some others have already said; walk a few feet, kill a wave of aliens, mash buttons because they're trying WAY too hard to be unique with the melee combos and gore. Graphics are fine, I'm sure they would look better if I could use my full monitor. Shame these large publishers feel the need to nickle and dime the devs making them choose optimizations, ultimately making the entire game and everyone involved look bad.
Already uninstalled after 1 hour, I felt like I got to experience the game so I got my money back.

I'm going to start by saying I'm a huge fan of American Truck Simulator and Euro Truck Simulator 2. I knew that going into this game it was going to be TOTALLY different, and boy was I right. Granted, they did a lot of great things to make this game unique, and yet they still have A LOT of polishing to do. The balance between "driving" and either fixing your truck, or replenishing your "batteries" or trying to figure out where the heck the fresh one goes is a little off. The graphics on one hand are so impressive I actually caught myself just looking around space and the amount of detail they've put into everything, it really pops. Additionally, trying to drive/fly your truck is very frustrating when using a keyboard/mouse on PC. I was really hoping for some wheel support, but the controls are far too complex and confusing that there's absolutely zero chance it could be controlled properly using one. They did a good job on some parts, but it seems like they got into their own heads about having to make it unique and authentic feeling, and just made it too much. I really gave it a shot and did a few deliveries but it didn't feel right, there was this huge disconnect between myself and the truck and I think it was the lack of a physical wheel. Even the option for a flight yolk would be nice, I have one of them also for flight simulators. Maybe with future updates they'll tweak some of these things. But until then this game just needs too much polishing to become a recommended game yet alone one of my daily drivers.

Where do I even begin? I'm so impressed with this game I had to look for a site (Metacritic) that I could tell everyone to go buy this game. No it's not a Planet Coaster killer, no it's nothing like we've experienced before. The opening Tutorial is annoying at times, but takes no longer then 30 minutes. It's within this first 30 minutes you'll make your decision whether to love it or hate it. You realize very quick this is not our ordinary Roller Coaster Building Simulation Game, it's far more in depth, creative, and actually has a plot? Like I said, you either love it, or hate it. I loved it, and I've been enjoying Roller Coaster Tycoon, Planet Coaster, all our favorite simulators that paved the course for this new gem. I like the features you can add onto ordinary rides that make them extraordinary. I enjoy the idea of following a story line, and plot rather than just choosing missions and completing all the goals. This way it's actually enjoyable to have some kind of substance behind the openness of creating an amusement park. Of course we still have the option of Sandbox mode to be as creative as we see fit. As for performance and graphics, it uses the Unreal Engine, which if you know causes for some of the best graphics in the industry, while still performing very well. For example, I'm running it on Medium/High specs on my 8 year old Acer Aspire Laptop. I had it running on "Epic" settings just fine, but I'd rather higher framerates then stunning graphics. That being said, if you've enjoyed Planet Coaster and grew up playing Roller Coaster Tycoon and Sims then I highly recommend getting your hands on a copy of this bad boy. It's different from anything we've seen before in this genre, but isn't that the entire idea of progressing, to be different but in the right way? Well, they've done it!
