Dog is an comedy-drama film starring Channing Tatum and directed by Tatum and Reid Carolin. The film follows Army Ranger Briggs (Tatum) who is assigned to drive Lulu, a Belgian Malinois military dog, from Washington state to her handler's funeral in Arizona. The story focuses on the bond and unlikely friendship that develops between the gruff soldier and the dog during their road trip adventure. Dog has the potential to be a heartwarming and feel-good story about the special connection between humans and their animal companions. Tatum and Carolin's previous film collaborations have been comedic in nature, so Dog seems to mark a shift toward more emotional, dramatic subject matter for the duo. The premise of an unconventional friendship between a soldier and a military dog has the potential to be deeply moving if handled well. The trailers give a good sense of the film's comedic charm and emotional resonance, helped along by what appears to be a talented dog actor portraying Lulu. While Dog may not break new ground cinematically, early signs suggest it could deliver a satisfying and emotionally effective story about the profound bonds between humans and animals, helped by Channing Tatum's likeable performance and chemistry with the canine co-star.

Free Guy is a fun and charming action comedy movie starring Ryan Reynolds. The movie has a clever premise that works well as a metaphor for living an unassuming life and then choosing to make an impact. Ryan Reynolds is perfectly cast as the lovable but naive Guy, and he brings a lot of humor and heart to the role. The visual effects are colorful and create an authentic looking game world. The action scenes are creative and well choreographed. Some of the strongest elements of the film are the comedic side characters played by Lil Rel Howery, Taika Waititi and Joe Keery. They add a lot of fun and eccentricity to the story. Shawn Levy directs with a light touch that balances the action and comedy well. The main weaknesses of Free Guy are a somewhat predictable plot and one-dimensional villains. The romantic subplot between Guy and Molotov Girl (Jodie Comer) also feels tacked on and underdeveloped. Free Guy is a fun and entertaining summer blockbuster that succeeds based more on its creative concept, visuals and comedic performances rather than a deep or unique story. However, for fans of action comedies and Ryan Reynolds' particular brand of humor, Free Guy delivers plenty of laughs and some heartwarming moments to make it a good way to spend 2 hours escaping reality.
