Ghosts 'n Goblins Resurrection

I'm an old schooler gamer. I grew up playing the original Ghosts 'n Goblins on NES and SNES. I've beat those games more than once and they were definitely tough. I'm also a big fan of the Soulsborne games and have beaten every one of those, so you'd think this game would be right up my alley right? Unfortunately this game is seriously lacking in the elements that made those original games tough but enjoyable. It is needlessly difficult to the point you don't really feel like you're accomplishing anything or getting better at the game. The closest thing to describe it is throwing yourself into a meatgrinder and hoping you come out on the other side in one piece. Each level has massive amounts of obstacles in your way while simultaneously having boat loads of enemies thrown at you. Your character is as slow and useless as ever to the point you are certain to take tons of hits fighting bosses, making it a race to see who can kill who faster rather a game of skill. The game simply is not fun to play in the least. The one thing I'll say about it is that the art is very well done. Other than that, unless you're into BDSM or something, you shouldn't even waste your time on this one.

"We wanted to add a multiplayer aspect to Fallout 4. We ended up adding more stuff to it and decided to release it as a separate game... Fallout 76!" Bethesda's explanation of how this "game" came to be should be evidence enough of how bad Fallout 76 is. It is the laziest of efforts and feels more like a shameless cash grab. I've played every Fallout since the days of 56k modems. Yes they have gotten a bit "worse" over the years as they strayed further and further from the "your choice matters" kind of narrative but I still enjoyed them. You know why? Fantastic story telling and immersion via INTERESTING NPC PERSONALITIES. I'm just floored that they thought completely removing any NPC interaction would be a good idea. I played the beta and was completely bored within an hour. My wife, who loved watching me play Fallout 4, fell asleep in less than an hour watching me play FO76. It becomes extremely repetitive as soon as you leave the vault. Walk here, find some junk, kill some enemies, loot their junk, find a workbench, scrap your junk... rinse and repeat. The quests don't even serve any real purpose other than helping you find other places to loot some junk. Any quest that asks you to "find where so-n-so went" fall 100% flat since EVERYBODY IS DEAD so you already know you will never find anyone. You end up running from computer to computer, or note to note, until you discover what happened. I had made a choice to play this rather than RDR2 because I like sci-fi and I'm not really into westerns. After the beta I immediately bought RDR2 and have been loving it. You know why? Fleshed out, totally immersive NPC INTERACTIONS! Bethesda has failed horrendously with this game. I'm giving it a 3 because I like picking up loot a lot, but that only stays fun if I have an immersive story and characters to keep dragging me along.

Moonlighter is a cute and simple little game but I have a few problems with it. For starters with one of the primary goals being inventory management I feel like they just didn't know what else to put in this game. It comes off as too cumbersome. "Item to the right disappears upon returning to town" These kinda mechanics are just silly in my book. How about add more substance to the dungeons or a leveling up system along with farming for upgrades. My second problem with this has been the buggy nature of the game itself. I have gotten stuck in walls somehow and I had to fight the plant boss three times to properly beat him because the first two times the game became extremely bogged down as if it were dumping memory and eventually froze. I've had it freeze while I was inside a slime monster. I could move fine but everything else was frozen. This is on the PS4 also. How could such a simple game have such huge errors? I'm almost about to give up on it if this is the crap I'm going to run into playing the rest of it. No clue if the devs plan to patch this or what. I don't even get freezing and crashing this bad on huge AAA games like Fallout, and games like that are notorious for having problems. Anyways I'm getting pretty sour about playing this now which is the opposite of what a fun game is supposed to do.

Came back here to change my review of an 8 to a 0. I'm getting more and more disenchanted with how this game has turned out. The nail on the head was me trying to warp along a preset path by the game to reach Atlas. Four times I have tried to warp and four times it has crashed! I finally just contacted Sony for a refund. FYI, these crashes happened both before AND after the latest update.

As a couple that has little time for video games these days, my girlfriend and I look for simple co-op games we can play in our downtime. From the videos I watched Helldivers seemed like the sort of run-n-gun shooter we would enjoy. Some mindless bug splattering nonsense that we can switch off our brains for and enjoy. Sadly this was NOT the case. The game, to our dismay, is overly complicated by making you actually run out of ammo(which there is very little of) and making you have to reload your gun manually. On top of that they toss in the Stratagem junk where you have to sit there typing in a code to get a drop of more ammo or an auto-machine gun that you have to hide from or otherwise be killed by. This all makes for a very lame, very frustrating time. My girlfriend and I were greatly disappointed in the game after only 20 minutes. If they had simply given this a Geometry Wars control scheme and cut out all the low-ammo/reload crap and upped the number of monsters to kill we would have enjoyed the game. In summary this game is not worth all the hype it has gotten. I dunno where people are getting 9's and 10's for this game, but it's the crappiest game I've played lately and it didn't take long to turn me off to it. I wish I could get my money back on this, but we all know that isn't gonna happen.
