The game deserves an 7-8 due to quality of content. But for me personally, it is a 1. The game just feels like a gross waste of time. There is literally no progression in the game other than unlocking skins. As it is, you are only playing for a sense of adrenaline, hoping that you roll some good items. It is very literally gambling, except that you lose time instead of money. Yuck. To me, the gameplay loop is too text-heavy. You will spend 15 seconds in a fight where only-god-knows-what is happening, and then spend 3-5 minutes reading through a bunch of menus. That may be fun for some, but not for me. One glaring flaw of the game is the UI. It is quite bad. Long press should NEVER be a mechanic in a PC game. We have double click and right click for that.. The game menu is ugly, as if an afterthought. Almost all actions feel sluggish. It is shocking that this is possible in a game where you literally don't do anything but read stats and select items from a menu. Edit: who am I kidding, all games are a waste of time. I got used to the UI and the slow, thoughtful gameplay. I cannot stop playing and I love it!
The lack of progression is actually really cool, because it means you do not need to grind, which is a huge plus. I can see myself sinking too much time into this game, but at least it won't be because I need to grind it out.

Monsters Are Coming! Rock & Road9
Nov 23, 2025
There is nothing about this game that I do not like. Monsters are Coming! Rock and Road is a fairly straightforward roguelite which plays like an arcade title. Your mission is to escort your mobile town to the finish line. Along the way you will fight hordes of monsters which try to attack the hero or the town, gather resources to repair and upgrade defenses, trigger some side mechanics, and choose locations of individual towers to maximize synergies. Each playthrough takes about 25-35 minutes, and consists of four segments which are interspersed by a shop and a survival minigame where your hero is pitted against hordes of monsters without the aid of the towers. Combat is very arcadey and mostly just consists of whittling away enemy HP, although some monsters have fun mechanics like explosions which kill other monsters or invincibility fields that require some targeted attacks by the hero. There are around 10 weapons to unlock throughout the game, and you get an extra weapon at each shop location, for a total of 4 before the final segment. For the final segment you face off against a powerful boss with a variety of mechanics to keep things interesting. The gameplay is quite straightforward, yet quite hectic and very satisfying. The town keeps moving, the monsters keep coming, and you must continuously balance the amount of time spent gathering resources and defending the town, and there is never a dull moment. The four environments are quite unique and feel distinct. The number of towers is very high, and I think I have tried maybe 10% of possible builds with 15 hours in the game. In addition to the large assortment of towers, there are 10 different towns that have different abilities, keeping things fresh and entertaining. The arcadey feel and satisfying progression system make it very enjoyable, even if you only have 30 minutes. However, the variety and RNG mean you can also play much longer. I have nothing bad to say about this game, it is very well polished. Perhaps the basic auto attack could be spiced up a bit, and also I have not found it worth upgrading towers until you run out of room, which is basically never. However, I have only started exploring the builds, so I may come back to edit my review ;) anyhow, back to it!

BALL x PIT3

don't read the paid reviews - this game is completely RNG and unfair and unfun. The first two levels are easy peasy and feel rewarding (only so you don't return it on steam). after the first two runs you will die on most runs simply because you cannot dish out damage fast enough. it is slow as molasses. majority of the gameplay involves literally standing as close as you can to a wall of enemies and throwing balls at them so that they bounce back into your hand (catching balls increases fire rate). you will lose if you don't roll good items (3/4 of the time), and it feels completely unfair. all the characters play almost identical. did I mention it's slow as molasses? the only time enemy attacks are difficult to dodge is when you're playing on 3x speed and there is 20 enemies shooting and 50 balls bouncing everywhere so its impossible to tell what's going on. most of the time you just cannot dish out damage fast enough and you get killed by the timer. how does this get such high reviews? I feel duped. ugh.
oh - and its buggy too. one run the game got completely stuck and I had to alt-tab and close it and restart. also, it stopped detecting one of the trigger buttons on my xbox controller; controller was fine 5 minutes later when I was replaying silksong.

gorgeous art and good music design, but it doesn't have anything else going for it. Its a walking simulator without any dialog. The puzzles are uninventive and walking from point A to point B feels like a chore. It almost has a storybook feel with the art style, but what good is a storybook without any characters? disappointing after seeing all the hype.

Very fun game and cool concept. Easy to pick up and hard to master. Its definitely arcadey, if you only have 15-30 minutes its still a lot of fun. At first I thought that the tetris tie-in would be kind of gimmicky, but after playing for some time I realized this is a fun twist on the tetris formula. The goal here is to control how pieces are positioned on the board relative to one another, rather than to clear as many rows as possible. For instance, the stable gets more points depending on how far away it is from another 'building' piece, so you must try to put the stable on the left edge of the board and another building on the right, nothing like tetris where you just focus on neatly stacking pieces and clearing rows! Neat stacking is nevertheless rewarded, granting additional resources required to upgrade your cards between rounds. The card system means you can control which pieces you get in each game, so you can plan for synergies, but you cannot control what order you get them. And this really forces you to think ahead. I'm slowly getting used to it and enjoying it! Great value at 15 USD!

good graphics, great voice acting, very interesting world, cool missions, but the game is BORING! I'm 9 hours in, just started act 2, and I have literally been in TWO action sequences. The rest is just talking heads and getting from point A to point B. Those 5 really awesome skill trees? Don't bother with them, because combat is about 15% of the game. Really hope that it picks up soon... after completing the game, I maintain the score. There is a lot to like, but overall the game isn't particularly fun or memorable. I cannot recall a single exciting boss fight and I could condense the plot to 4-5 points because that's about how interesting it was. Johnny Silverhands is a bad joke. And the skill trees, although really fleshed out exciting, aren't particularly relevant since you'll be spending 85% of the game reading or getting from point a to b. The city is mostly lifeless and boring - just a bunch of crazies and junkies. It almost a caricature of itself.

8/10 visuals, very pretty 9/10 polish, pretty much flawless 6/10 sound, quite average 4/10 gameplay, it's just very repetitive and feels quite bland. Also, after about 5 hours it gets annoying to order around your units and upgrade everything by riding your horse to do it. 5/10 value, this is borderline a mobile game, and that for $15.

my girlfriend just got an operation for cleft lip. she can now do some incredible things, like drink through a straw. watching her do these things is so much more rewarding than playing elden ring, which is a complete waste of life. do yourself a favor and don't buy this game.

This is an excellent ARCADE GAME. As in, you play it for 30 minutes, do something else, and come back later. Yes, you will lose every time. Yes, it is unfair. But, every 10th game when you make it to the 3rd level, and every 50th game you make it to the 4th level, your heart will be pumping! And, it has a surprising amount of depth and replayability as you learn how to maximize combos, use the different weapons, and choose upgrades in between stages. Really, for $3 this is the best value I've ever gotten from a game. It surprises me so many low reviews!! Probably kids see the very high metascore, buy it for just $3, and then are frustrated they can't master it immediately. Sheesh, that is the beauty of unforgiving RNG games.
