A Good Snowman Is Hard To Build5
Feb 16, 2026
Got this game in an **** bundle. To be honest, I'm not particularly a fan of sokoban puzzles, but coming from Baba is You, which is actually one of my favourites in the genre (and also available on the same bundle), *A Good Snowman Is Hard to Build* wasn't quite as satisfying for me. I found it too easy to run out of space and hit the walls, which constantly forced me to restart. I tried playing until the fifth level before giving up; itβs just not for me. Presentation is cute, though!

Tetris Forever5
Mar 3, 2025
The format created by Digital Eclipse where a story is presented in an interactive way and games are included is really good and works for many sagas and franchises. However, I think this is not one of them.Like many others said, the selection of games is severely lacking. A "definitive" Tetris collection without GB or NES Tetris is not definitive. And someone may say "oh but this was a licensing issue, it's not like they didn't want to add it", but that's precisely my point: if you don't have the rights to these games, should you think about doing a collection like this in the first place? Because it really seems like they tried to fill that void with other games that yes, are neat, but not actually fun to play for more than 5 minutes. But hey, you still have the videos, interviews and footage. The problem is that they aren't good. I found myself going back several times in the timeline because there are so many people, companies and rights involved that I was struggling to remember "who owned this company and what did it do?". And that's a storytelling problem that made me abandon Tetris Forever from part 4 **** only that but also a lot of the story is told by Henk Rogers who's not precisely the most objective source in this matter. So the collection of games included is lackluster and the interviews don't give you a clear and objective picture of what happened with Tetris throughout the years. It fails on the two most basic points it set out to be. And for that I sadly can't recommend it to anyone.

Super Mario Odyssey10
Jan 18, 2025
The Mario series was always characterized by how tight and precise the controls were. Every video game system and platform wanted to have its own "Mario", because they knew a game like that was going to be a system seller. Super Mario 64 revolutionized 3D gaming and at the time, it was a big step for the Mario franchise but also gaming in general. However, and like many other 3D games of the era, it's difficult to go back and feel comfortable with the way Mario is controlled. This aspect aspect improved quite a lot with following entries. Mario Sunshine, Galaxy and Galaxy 2 all retain that precision aspect that is a staple of the Mario games. But Odyssey is a chef kiss in this regard. And that's a big reason why Super Mario Odyssey is the best 3D platformer I've ever played. It has a lot of variety, it is fun, but most importantly, it is SO easy to control. Playing Odyssey and going back to the previous games is really difficult for me because of this **** course, a game is not only defined by its controls. But Odyssey also has amazing music, great replayability, smooth and crisp graphics, etc, etc. It's one of my favorite video games and one that everyone should play.

Super Mario 3D All-Stars6
Jan 18, 2025
It's impossible to judge this game without considering what it could have been. This had to be a celebration of 3D Mario, one of the most influential and important sagas in the history of video games. It is not. The games itself are good, but that's not new; they were good when they launched. This was the opportunity to publish the definitive versions of those games, updating them to run on modern hardware using modern controls. What you get is a lame-ass menu with no additional content other than a lame-ass music player (why the **** would I want to listen to music on the Nintendo Switch) and three games that could've gotten a lot more love. SM64 is the most egregious example. Keeping the 4:3 aspect ratio and the N64 camera controls is a disgrace. Multiple modern ports made by the community have solved this better than the officially published one? Sunshine is more or less fine, apart from the cutscenes that are rendered in the original definition for some reason. And Galaxy is probably the most enjoyable of them all, but that's because it's the one that didn't need a lot of updates to begin with. Apart from everything I mentioned, the game was only available during a specific period of time and then it disappeared, for some reason (again). I can't give it less than 3 stars because that would be an insult to the games included, but the compilation itself is 1 or 2 stars at the most. A sad disappointment.

A throwback to Mario Golf on the GB/GBA era. Really charming and fun game; I really recommend checking it out.

Luigi's Mansion 36
Jan 15, 2025
A game that starts as a 9/10 and gradually becomes more irritating. I wanted to love it but it has three main problems that really take away a lot of the charm (charm that's actually there!!). The first problem are the controls. God they are clunky. Some parts of the game, like the final boss fight, expect the player to have a level of precision that simply can't be achieved with the controls offered, which leads to a lot of frustration. It must be said that Luigi controls in this game are the best they have been in the entire series but there's still a long way to go before calling them actually comfortable. My second issue was how, specially during the second half of the game, I had a hard time understanding what I was actually supposed to do. Level design is amazing and really good (the game has a LOT of variety in each floor) but it's quite easy to miss a specific thing in a boss fight or level that's not obvious. This led me to actually abandoning the game for a couple months as I had to check a YouTube guide more frequently then I'd wanted. Last but not least, the Polterkitty and lost Toad dynamics that forced backtracking in the game were completely unnatural and irritating. I don't know why they were included. If I wanted to go back in a level I'd play a Metroidvania. This is not a Metroidvania. Luigi's Mansion 3 has wonderful graphics, amazing technical performance, and really fun gameplay ideas. It has a lot of potential. But by the end, I was glad I had finished it.

A game that **** you in and never lets go. Amazing mechanics, fun to explore, while feeling good to play. It was the first Zelda game I played from start to finish and introduced me to the other games.

A Short Hike6
Jan 10, 2025
The title itself describes the game. It's short, little adventure. Doesn't get much more complex than that. It's definitely cozy but doesn't stick much after you finish it. 88 score is too much for this game IMO

New Super Mario Bros. Wii8
Jan 10, 2025
It's definitely a fine platformer and a good game to play with friends or family. It's not a breakthrough but at the time it was a great comeback for 2D Mario on home consoles. 100%-ing this one is not fun though.

Super Mario Bros. Wonder10

WIthout a doubt the best 2D Mario since Super Mario World. Innovative and above all, fun, I had a blast while playing it. It's not a game with a whole lot of replayability but the time I had was more than enough for me.

Kirby and the Forgotten Land9
Jan 10, 2025
Amazing game and the best Kirby for me. Good level design that's not on the EXTRA easy side but it's nice to approach, good mechanics. I actually enjoyed this one. The only reason why it's not a 10/10 is because of the almost inevitable coin grinding in order to get e.g. the maxim tomato / life up boost or to max your copy abilities.

Played through flycast emulation. Probably didn't get it but it seemed to be too much of doing the same thing. It's not creepy it just ended up being boring for me. Quite sad, I was really hyped for this one

I absolutely love exploration games but this one didn't click with me. Maybe because it's a little too complex, maybe because I played it handheld on the Switch, or maybe because I didn't get it. But after 3-4 hours playing I found no incentive in continuing.

Unpacking6
Jan 10, 2025
The game excels in the graphics department. It's really cute and well-designed. Telling the story through the unpacking of items is really innovative and creates a unique way of creating the narrative for the game. Developers poured their hearts when paying attention to detail and that shows. However... after 3-4 levels the game stops being actually fun. That's not an issue of design or passion rather than a fundamental flaw in the game mechanics: at one point it feels more of a chore than a game. The final level and its 10 rooms is horrendous. And the lag when switching rooms. Mother of god. How can a pixel art game about puting items in drawers can have SO MUCH LAG?? It even crashed on me a couple times! At the end of the day, it's a fine game. It's not bad by any means. It's just not fun.
