Further cementing the fact that rarely agree with the (consensus) of the critics, I thought this was a great film. Florence Pugh gives a stellar performance as a struggling addict that has been overcome by loss. Maybe the story is a little cliche, but it's a refreshing change from the big budget "mainstream" garbage (e.g. Star Wars, Avengers, etc.) that Hollywood seems to produce in mass in recent years.

I found this film practically unwatchable. Charleston Heston (laughably, in brown-face) and Janet Leigh give perfectly serviceable performances, but I can't say that for most of the rest of the cast. Dennis Weaver as the hotel night manager was jaw-droppingly bad. Welles and Tamiroff also deliver ham-fisted performances. Technically, this might be a good film, but in every other way, it's pretty terrible.

Liked the idea/theme/message. Disliked the execution. The biggest issue that I have with the film is the main protagonist. He's a psychopath and arguably worse than the villains that he seeks to avenge.. He murders a random innocent driver by causing a fatal car crash to prove a stupid point to his kidnapped passenger. In another scene, he slaughters a SWAT team for no clear purpose, given he already had a planned escape. The scene just felt gratuitous with its over-the-top (and largely fake looking) graphic violence. The other problems that I have is with the film's production values and casting. The news anchor has a voice that is beyond annoying. Her constant exaggerated accentuations just seemed weird and jarring. Equally annoying is much of the film's terrible soundtrack. This was especially true during the tediously long march of the SWAT team to the door of the protagonist's home. I'm assuming the director's intention was to create tension, but the repetitive and annoying music (if you can call it that) killed any of feeling of tension for me. In fairness, I probably would have been asking "when is this going to end" regardless. I can't believe anyone with straight face could claim this is a good movie without tons of caveats.

It's watchable (barely), but that's about the best I can say about it. Yet another example of the lazy superhero dreck that Hollywood continues to churn out ad nauseam. It brings little to nothing new or fresh to a genre that has been beaten absolutely to death at this point. The villain is dull and easily defeated. There's zero moments of excitement or tension in this film. Superheroes... check. Diversity... check. Good script... nope. Bring on AI if this is the best real human beings can do. It couldn't be much worse.

A pathetic John Wick/Equalizer rip-off. John Statham's performance is "fine". He's playing the same character we've seen him play over and over again. The action sequences are well choreographed. But that's where the positives end. The script is about as lazy and predictable as they come. It's the standard revenge flick, but one that requires an eye-rolling level of suspension of disbelief. John Stathham's character has god-like abilities that allow him to take out a dozen machine gun wielding baddies with nothing but his own hands. Rinse and repeat. Yawn. How many times can Hollywood recycle this same mindless plot? Given the consistency of the pathetic performances delivered by almost every actor in this dreadful film, I suppose the blame belongs to the director of this turd. But the actress playing Agent Parker deserves a callout for being especially terrible. I'd bet she'll be a Razzie contender for this.

Another Hollywood blockbuster with amazing visuals and production values completely marred by an absolutely atrocious script. No wonder Hollywood writers is so threatened by the potential use of AI. The jokes in this fell as flat as those from a recent SNL episode. How this film is being so well received by many is mind-blowing and frankly sad as Hollywood is once again being rewarded for producing dreck like this.
